Really cool spectator sport, me thinks.

Shouldn't it happen, like, 5 or 10 times, before being called the "Classic"????

I'm hoping to be there on Sunday. Do you know if other parts of the park will be open for riding during the hillclimb?

Went to a hill climb at Carnegie back in the 80s. It's hoot! Saw a Honda CR500 bored out to 750cc and mated at the crank with a additional CR500 cylinder bored to 750cc! Insane

Usually they just close off the area at the bottom of the climb hill so traffic is a little funky but everything is still open. You can see the action from the road but if you want to get close there's an entry fee.

I'll be there....can't wait.
Where will you be Butch?....I'll look for you. I'll most likely have a CityBike shirt on (just a clue so you can hide with Budman if you see me. )
Question: With all the history and even the photos of Carnegie hill climb competition in the 20's how can this only be the 3rd annual?
They must have taken a bunch of years off.

I'm thinking it's either a new organization running it or a newer event than those they've held for a decade or more there.

It is a great spectator sport.
Walk the "pits" and check out some of those machines.
Purpose built. Raw power for short runs.

I'd love to go both days but I have to work tomorrow.
I'd really like to see the sportsman class as those guys are perhaps a bit closer to my reality.

Skip’s used to do them, now it’s Matt with Elevation Action Sports... I wonder of the days of this event may be numbered...

Why would you say that, Butch?
The enviro's are trying to close Carnegie. We had approval to run a trials' event last year after working with the Super about how to set it up. Submitted our app and got an OK, then got a phone call 5 hrs later saying the next Super up the chain was canning it due to all the legal issue they are having.
Red Roosters got their hare scrambles cancelled last year as well, same type of reasoning. We were told they weren't doing any special events all year.
Hill climb tears up the dirt and create a great drainage ditch for run-off, exactly the kind of thing the enviros can point to as polluting the seasonal creek at the bottom of it.
They lost the bid to can the Tesla expansion then got a state senator to introduce a new bill that would've taken the Tesla property from OHV dept even though they had already lost that battle.
They have a bunch of money and dirt interests are on the decline, just a matter of time before they succeed. Even if we get Tesla they will make it ALL two track that you cannot deviate from. They will then close the first Carnegie property and re-work all the trails to be just like the new property then re-open it with major tickets to those that break the rules.

Why would you want to go there to ride two track for christs' sake! When the traction is good there's no challenge unless you're going up the big hills, when it's dry even the two track is boring....
