Agree 100%

I hate people that steal from others and wonder what the hell kept their parents from teaching them right from wrong.

Good luck Lewd.

Sorry to hear the unfortunate events. You're a devoted friend for taking on such a project.

Did you report it to Sheriff? Any cameras in the complex? Neighborhood? I'd check into this ASAP as cameras often loop and overwrite making evidence perishable in just a few days.

How about posting flyers in the complex/neighborhood since odds are significantly higher of finding leads near the crime scene than on teh barf. Maybe someone saw something.

As an aside, I use Tile for finding my phone, keys, backpack and wallet since I am always misplacing them. I hated the fact that they didn't have replaceable batteries and the range was limited to 50-75 feet. This is the time of year I get a "battery-low-time-to-replace" alert. While shopping I learned that there is a Pro version which has a 300 foot range AND a replaceable battery (the longtime biggest complaint from users). The best price I've found is a reasonable $15 each when you buy a 4-pack from QVC (Amazon sells them for $25!). I plan to use them as a budget bike tracker.
Yep, reported it to the Santa Clara County PD, first thing. I also notified my apartment complex.

They investigated, looking for cameras, since there are a few businesses by me.

For nostalgic reasons these bikes in good condition are fetching stupid high prices. Or in your case it may have been a joy ride, in which case I hope it comes home soon. Fuckers...

I was really jolted when I read that sentence, given what led up to it. So sorry to read that. That bike looks beautiful.

I honestly don't know what to say.
I thought I'd gotten hardened by all of the theft threads.
So much for scar tissue, this one makes me sick.
A lot more than that beautiful tribute to a friend was taken from you....but you know that better than anyone.
I'm truly sorry man. I sincerely hope it finds it's way back to you unmolested.
