Need 2018 Goldwing Mechanic

It appears Wing Nut in Fairfield is out of business. They were my go-to. I can no longer work on my own bike and need to find a new mechanic in the Bay Area.

Taking off all the tupper ware is the main problem. Many, many different plastic push pins, screws and bolts, throughout. I need to expose the fuel tank vent to add an auxiliary fuel cell.

Believe it or not this requires taking off 16 +/- pieces of plastic, plus the seat.

At any rate any leads would be greatly appreciated.

Moto Mike at MotoJava (http://www.motojava.com/) in San Francisco is a big GW fan (he's personally on like, his 10th GW!), so he knows them well. Give him a call, and if his shop can't fix it, then he will no doubt know of a good GW mechanic who can.

If you mess with a 2018 wing, the warranty is out.

Thanks and I understand that. I have owned three Wings and most of the things I've done to them voided the warranty.

On a good note, with over 600K miles on Wings, I have never had a warranty item, so I'm willing to take my chances.

I don't believe a Honda dealer would comply with want I want to do, because it would void the warranty. In the past I could do it myself, so no problem. Now I need some help and I'm willing to deal with the warranty issue.

And just to be clear, I have never purchased an extended warranty on any Wing I have purchased. Too me that would be a waste of money.

There's not much you can actually do that would void your entire warranty. Just like Stever pointed out, the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act protects you from that. It's a scare tactic that only uneducated dealership personnel will try to use on you or those that do know what it is use just for playing scare tactics to get you to give them your money instead.

Ultimately, per MMWA, it's the manufacturer's responsibility to prove that whatever modifications you've undertaken are the indisputable cause of whatever it is that you're seeking warranty coverage for. In other words, if you install your fuel cell and have an electrical issue that has nothing to do with your modification whatsoever nor was caused by the installation of the modification, it'd still be covered by your warranty.
