A terrible crash yesterday. First one ever. - BARF

I riding on a straight road at night, it was quiet with few cars. I spotted a parking lot up ahead and I accelerated slightly to get there quicker. The parking lot is on the left. I wanted to do a small drift turn to get into the lot and in order to do that I needed to give a bit more power to the engine. As I slid into the turn, a car, all black with all lights off, was slowly coming out. And so... I instinctively hit the breaks and high-slided down the road just barely passing the intersection.

Thankfully, I didn't hit anyone, nor did anybody get hurt. I've got a fair amount of scratches and aches, especially on my right shoulder, and neck. I have a dislocated finger on my right hand. Purple and blue bruises everywhere.

My bike has some minor issues, scratches, broken side mirrors, bent handlebars, wobbly wheels and misaligned forks.

I don't think there's much analysis here. I think this falls straight in to the "don't do that" category.

Are you really in Florida? All I know about that state is from Dave Barry and Carl Hiaasen...

Probably. There is a Tampa Bay Area. Maybe he thought barf was from his local bay area.

Have the same issue on a Bay Area Riders Facebook page, have to say it clearly in multiple places that this is a SF bay area group, not a Florida Group.

Thank you for asking, it's a good thing I'm a lefty so I can type. Bike's damaged, so it's gonna need some repairs. Lol my body's gonna need some repairs too. I think by the time I heal everything will alright. My bike's in the shop right now. But man oh man so much broken stuff happened from that one slip up...

I had a bunch of other stuff with me too that suffered the consequences... My phone, ipad and my new flashlight from amazon were all destroyed.

it's my new flashlight I was gonna use for camping

FLASHLIGHT very important? Why risk the drift and backing in?? On public roads???
