OK, how many of you would want to be cannabis judges?

Is cannabis judging a bogus job? We asked two veterans with 16 years experience
Quote:
To those outside of the cannabis industry, judging marijuana strains may seem like the kushiest job in the world. And also, an impossible one.

How does someone smoke their way through a buffet of hundreds of different types of weed? After hitting a few different joints, don’t they blur together into one blissful (or terrifying) high? And does the last strain you smoke always win?
This final sentence cracked me up.
Quote:
“I will tell you that the top two winners, we spent a couple hours trying to figure out which was number one,” says Lastreto.
I'll just bet they did!

I wonder how they judge beers and alcohol. I mean the judges must be absolutely inebriated from hundreds of different beers they sample...the last one they try is probably the one that wins since they all blur together after the second beer.

You can fool a wine expert apparently by dying white wine red.

I can't help but get an image and audio of Cheech and Chong in Up In Smoke when picturing the environment and way they're probably talking while doing it.

It's sort of different. They don't usually drink the beer or wine. They taste and spit. So my ex-girlfriend would have been a perfect judge.

Actually, he wouldn't since you have to inhale to experience the effects, not just the taste.

Ah, I didn't know that since I'm relatively unfamiliar with the process of getting high.

A beer judge is supposed to taste and spit, much like wine. For weed its all about the taste and aroma. I suppose if it's overly harsh or smooth you'd want to mention that as well. Back in the day I remember people selling weed high in CBD (I guess), looked and smelled like weed but didn't really get you high, so if your not already wasted you might want to make mention of that too.

A former boss of mine was a judge at the Emerald Cup. One day, a Cup representative brought a giant paper bag to the office, with around 300 containers, labeled by number, of different contestants' entries.

We started trying to judge way too late (like the day before the Cup), and after three entries, had to tell the Cup representative that we could not, in good faith, provide any sort of decision.
