I don't have a liter bike why would I need all that power? At least on the street I don't need that power. I have ridden one before many times. They're fast, gobble up gas, tires, more maintenance, and everyone wants to steal them.

HOWEVER one day I'll have a bike I can legitimately kill myself with =P

This bike makes a ton of sense in markets with tiered licensing. Here, not so much. I don't use all the HP of my 1300 often, but I love the torque.

Yeah, but you should subtract 5-10% for speedometer error, espeically above 100 mph. 117.8mph-10%=106mph, or about the same as the lighter and much cheaper Ninja 400. Other than the fun of zinging to 17,000 rpm (vs. 12,000 on the 400), I just don't get it.

otoh, an honest 100 mph from 250 ccs and four 50 mm pistons with a 31.8 mm stroke and 17.5k redline ...

how cool would Moto America Liquid Molly Junior Cup be with this Kawasaki at Road America or Road Atlanta, instead of a herd of drone-y 400cc twins ...? lord preserve me from jaded asperity ...

Rumors abound saying that Yamaha is working on a bike to challenge Kawasaki’s recently unveiled ZX-25R.

Some even give it the moniker of YZF-R25M. It the rumors are true, could this be the begging of the glory days of four-cylinder 250cc screamers?

Yamaha already does have a small displacement 250cc race rep bike, the R25. But it carries a twin-cylinder engine, not an inline 4 screamer. Its equipment spec is in no way up to ZX-25R standards and capability either.

So if Yamaha is working on a YZF-R25M, they are going to have to bring their A-game.

Indianautosblog says that the new Yamaha will likely resemble its literbike, the Yamaha R1M.

Motoroids goes on to say that if the bike reaches production, it will likely be rolled out in Indonesia. That would seem to make sense because this part of the world has a very high population of small-displacement motorcycles.

Finally, if a new Yamaha screamer isn’t enough for you, both Indianautosblog and Motoroids speculate that Honda will also enter the inline four-cylinder screamer fray with a CBR-250RR-R.

Interesting times these.

lmao if Honda made one of these it’d be 420 pounds, 23hp, no adjustable suspension, no rider aids, and the crank would have a 50/50 chance of exploding every 5k miles, finally answering the question of what if you had the high strung nature of KTM ownership but the bike also sucked.

They’d make a HRC model though, that had a quickshifter, 18hp, and a tight ratio gearbox with a 15k race kit that’d make it less reliable and produce one more HP than the Kawasaki, though. Still would weigh 40 pounds more.
