BART isn't so bad on the weekdays. Mostly commuters and the occasional bum asking for spare change. Cars clear out when they board.

The wackos, thugs, drunks and smelly bums ride it on the weekends. That and people who refuse to move over on the esclators.

They are actually in process of replacing the cloth seats with some type of vinyl/plastic. I take BART often; I always try to hit one of the refurbished trains.
