thanks for the road report.
Some parts are fresh from edge to edge but not all of it. The patches are large though, not filling in a pothole here or there. The last 4 miles into Garberville were actually the worst as they haven't done much to that part.

You'll have to pm the rally master Two Wheel Tramp (Reama) after you've signed up on eventzilla.

Well looks like I'll be around for this and able to go. Since I'm in the south bay now anyone want to ride out together?

I have slicks with about 8 laps on them do you think they will last 600 miles? if my Humpty Dumpty gets put together by then I will be seeing you all in Weaveville (also ordered some dot tires in case the slicks don’t last)

Good call.
You wouldn't be the first making an emergency run to Redding for new tires.
Last year Anytwowilldo spooned on a new tire at the motel.

Ya'all should have 50% or more rubber left before starting this ride.
Check your wear bars.

Yep, hot weather, chip sealed roads, heavy hand twisting will chew up tires. Start your trip with fresh rubber. You know how nice it is to romp with fresh rubber. Don't cheat yourself and don't be that guy.

Smash,

I have never tried anywhere close to that mileage on slicks.

I have ridden them on the street and they wore pretty good, however this area is fairly remote.

My advice. Throw on the new DOT's.

So true. Last year I started with a rear tire that had at least 50% of its original tread depth. By Saturday morning it was absolutely shot. I was blown away! Two up with bags, warm temps, and a bit of speed destroyed the tire so quickly. I'm sorry but I can't remember the name of the gent that gave me his take off. I spooned it on. By the time I got to Redding on Sunday morning it was pealing off rubber like a pencil eraser. Get new rubber and be happy.

I'm taking my Adventure this year, but I'm following my own advice. This arrived today.

I'll be bringing some extra rubber in the 120/17 and 180/17 sizes again this year, in case someone has an emergency or failure. And my compressor in a can too. Better safe than sorry.

Attendee list updated.

Don't screw up a weekend of awesome riding by bringing crappy rubber!
