Pretty hard to shake my ponpons for post-modern capitalism. I just feel like everything is sinkin' into the muck and we are all in a holding pattern just waiting/fearing/anticipating some kind of collapse. In this regard, Purge movies are NOT helping.

Because if you think about, when hatred builds, scapegoats appear.

I guess I need a pep talk on how great corporations are. I spent years trying to be all bootstrappy and self-made but shit, we're all in crosshairs anymore.

Amen.

But after all, a guy will become an Uber king and have a FLEET of cars. Oh wait. Because you know, a guy will get so rich, he will buy tons of houses from his Air Bnb rentals. Only to find out his municipality is on the verge of controlling or outlawing or otherwise limiting their usage capacity. Oh wait. I guess there's always Amway, Herbalife and water filter sales.

Corporate capture seems to have a lot of similarities to the socialist bogey-model.

You have no idea how wrong you are. This valley is swarming with Uber drivers. Downtown is virtually undriveable during peak season weekends because of all the Ubers. Napa, Yountville and St Helena were not meant for the traffic of locals, tourists and Ubers/Lyfts. Its all very dumb.

Not for me, 101 was worse than nost mornings. The backup was well onto 37 this morning, usually its just the onramp.

So, I certainly noticed no better drive. Probably all the Ubers from around the Valley.

Drive down 880 to the South Bay was quiet this afternoon. They should go on strike everyday.

My coworker asked a cabbie in Dublin how they managed to get rid of Uber.

"We told those moodafookers to pound sand and kicked 'em the fook off our island."

Oh, geez, it was a protest a couple years back where all the Latin immigrants (mainly illegals) were supposed to not go to work that day to show the value of that labor force.

I remember a bunch of us joking in a thread on here about it how much easier it was to get around town that day.

The reality of these sorts of, "we're not showing up," protests is that they merely illustrate that most people do not appreciate how replaceable they are.

Not sure when you were on the road, but 101 from Novato to San Francisco was nice and easy around 7am, except where 37 merges in, which is always a disaster. It is always my favorite when 37 closes because of flooding.

There was an accident leaving Napa so it put me behind, got to that merge at like 740. :angry

Every small town has them, every big city (that hasnít specifically banned them) in pretty much every state

Ride share reduces traffic by eliminating the traffic that is just looking for parking - this is significant

Double parking for loading and unloading increases traffic - I think its either a wash or overall benefit.
