Z2 Track Days - AFM NRS July 17th

Hi all. We had a bunch of extra demand for the AFM New Racer School we had in June so we've added another one on Saturday, July 17th at Thunderhill. If you're interested in racing this year or you know someone who is, definitely sign up as soon as you can.

Thanks.

When would you recommend that someone take NRS?

I see areas of evaluation like:

We will evaluate your competency in these areas during the on track evaluation.
  • Predictability on track: Do not make sudden movements.
  • Maintain your line.
  • Smooth operation of motorcycle & motorcycle controls.
  • Demonstrated fast & safe riding skills.
  • Demonstrated common sense & ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • Passing and being passed Ė Be predictable. Maintain your line. It is the passing riderís responsibility to make the pass safely.

What are the instructors evaluating for specifically in each of these? Do you have to be above a certain pace to pass?

Shoot David an email (david at z2 trackdays com). He can connect you with Mark who runs the NRS program for Z2.

As an instructor/AFMer, when I am evaluating a student, I am mostly looking for consistency and control - those encompass everything in the list above.

We try to answer the question: "Do I want this person wheel to wheel with me in a race?".

Outright speed is not important - there is no laptime cutoff.
