How long the belts have been on there is as important as miles. If the bike has sat for two years without ever turning over the engine, they would still need to be changed. So how long have they been on there?

They have been on for approximately 2.5 years.
I know that Ducati recommends 7500 mi. or 2 years but I also know that they do not replace the belts on Loss Leaders that they sell and they do not throw away old stock.
They do not throw away belts that have been sitting on a shelf for years.
They don't date code and they are not vacuum sealed to protect them.
The myth that they need to be changed at 2 years no matter what is just marketing and a way to extract more money from owners.
That said, if I have a serious no BS buyer that wants the belts replaced, I will gladly do so

I've gone as much as three years on the belts on a Ducati that was ridden regularly. I always had Jim Davis of Nichols - and now Advanced Cycle Services - do my Ducati belts. The issue is that if the belt sits on a bike that is not ridden, it will develop a hard spot where it bends around the pulley and that's where they break. Jim has dealt with multiple engines that have had broken belts during his career as a Ducati mechanic.

I'm not looking for another Superbike, but if I were interested in yours I would be asking for new cam belts.

And thanks for the prompt reply. I hope you're able to find a buyer for that beautiful bike.

I bought a complete set of rockers from Nichols when I had my 996.. Great people.
I do start it, warm it up to operating temp. and cycle the suspension periodically.
Just don't ride it anymore
Thanks for the compliment.
I appreciate it.

That you'll probably get your asking price, or very close to it is a testament to the quality of these "older" Ducs. That's a really nice bike. I wish I wasn't in the middle of trying to buy a house.
