Day 11
We had arrived in Zion the previous evening and did not have a chance to explore the park. The roads in the park, coupled with the slow moving caravans and cars, were not condusive to sportbikes, so we boarded the bus from Springdale into the park.

.

.

.

.

.
We headed out around 11:00 am to make our way to Barstow. Yah...Barstow. Oy. 345 miles later, after being sandblasted by trucks in the St. George gorge, blown about on the 15, and baked in Vegas, we arrived in Barstow a little crumpled and dusty. Pizza and a chardonnay or two seemed in order as tomorrow we would press on for home.
.
Day 12
400 miles later, via 5, 46, 101, and for me,880 and then 80, I was pulling up in my driveway. My friend and riding companion would have a little further to go as she lives in Napa. As I unloaded my little gixxer I reflected on the journey I had just taken...and what a journey it was! All told, we visited 19 national parks and monuments...and each one was just as different as the next. Would I do it again? You bet!!!

Cheers!! See the rest of the pictures from the trip here.

Incredible!

So well organized. How long did it take to plan the route and stops?

Awesome pics, looks like a great time.

You should link to a map of your route.

thanks everyone...!
.
the route did not take that long to plan actually..i determined which parks and monuments i wanted to see and what made sense as far as 'loops' went...i realised that the beginning days and ending days would be 'more miles' than the 'in betwixt' days...
.
the gixxers had no problems whatsoever.. i was diligent in cleaning and lubing the chains as well as checking air pressure. the BF has created a monster in that regard..
.
i have taken the redcoat ( gixxer ) to canada and have 12000 + on it from that trip as well as others, so find it comfortable for me...my friend had a bit of difficulty in the beginning as she was not used to it, but she became acclimated as we carried on...
.
as soon as i figure out how to do the map thing, i shall post the route up..we did stray from the intended route twice...but all in all, the roads were pretty awesome...especially the twisty bits and SR 12..
.

GREAT shots (and words)!

A friend was over Friday talking about doing a similar trip this year, but he was thinking motorhome. This thread has me doing some serious re-thinking!

Thanks!
