I agree. We're humans, and we're the resource that needs managing. But I'd never work for like a company with 2 people in charge and no HR department unless the salary was enormous. How would they handle HR disputes? If the answer is "they'd just make a decision" that won't work for me.

So not surprisingly, I was banned from a Reddit forum (honestly not deserving of it). Reddit is funny because there's no due process at all. It is a dictatorship. Literally if a moderator doesn't like your opinion you can be banned.

So I started pestering the mod to unban me from "Am I The Asshole", and eventually he responded with "It seems more like you've written the combination of words that will make me unban you vs. having actual remorse".

I had to laugh, because it's 100% true. But I feel no remorse, so how can I express it? Banning is not really "punishment" since there's no way to earn an unbanning. So I basically responded that I can't help how he feels I can only ask to be unbanned and apologize. Eventually after pestering he unbanned me.

What I learn every single day is that it's almost always better to lie and be manipulative to get what you want...the truth often can only hurt.

One of my derplegangers has tried to register my email with NBA2k Sports account FIVE TIMES in the past 2 weeks. I never click on it so it gets deleted. And then he tries to do it again with my email.

How fucking stupid are people? Answer: very.

at lunch , i'm eating at a small table for two (Chairs.)........

this dude squeezes between tables , talking on his cell and plops himself right across from me at my table. Box and all, on me table.

... I'm like OK... so I say "hey what's going on!!! "... !!!

that Indian guy is .. "oh sorry!"

gets up---turns out there's an Indian woman behind me on the next tiny table--waiting for him!!!... So he sits right at her's this time.

.. not as exciting as Sumi's story (hey good that you deflected that!), but, hey.

So, I have a question for the PWs.

Today there is a luncheon for Women in Science and Engineering. It involves free food (a "delicious lunch"). While I fully support women in science and engineering, I find myself wondering why this meeting is supported and my company is buying free lunch for women only. It is not open to men. I have to wonder what would happen if I tried to have a Men in Science and Engineering luncheon.

And before you reply with "they are underrepresented and why do you hate women", let me state that they are most assuredly not underrepresented at my company. Two of the three office principals are women. Two of the three business class leads are women. My supervisor is a woman. Her supervisor is a woman. More than half the staff in my department are women. In my opinion, this is discriminatory.

No, it doesn't really bother me that much. But it does kind of irk me that I could go get free food at a meeting, but only if I belong to a certain gender group.

So what are your thoughts on this?
