Lanes Splitting Video -- I have a need for some

Hey Guys,

Looking for some footage from like an overpass or over look looking down on riders splitting responsibly.

Anyone got anything like that??

Thanks in advance.

What is your timeline for this project, budman? I live fairly close to the bike/ped overpass that crosses 80 in Berkeley. Could head out there after work one day and grab some footage if it would help. Notoriously congested at commute hours (and most other hours for that matter). It wouldn't be directly overhead, but I could grab a good straight sightline down the 1 & 2.

I'm fairly close to the 880 / Davis ramp in San Leandro and could take video of both north & southbound with a Contour.

I have zero experience editing, so I could copy to a USB for delivery to anyone that's good at that sort of thing.

I work during rush hour (so I can't do it) but in SF the overpass on Battery downtown might be a good vantage spot

Sure thing, I'll aim to get you some footage early next week. Hopefully by Wednesday at the latest. Preferred delivery format, resolution, particular subject focus? Sorry for all the questions... Photo/Video is my professional field, so I like to have project parameters. If I have a clean line of sight, I can track a rider through traffic from the overpass, or leave a static angle pointed down the 1&2.

The pedestrian overpass near SFGH will probably yield the video time you're describing. Lots of very slow cars, lots of motorcycles, and some safe splitting.

Not to speak for budman but at a guess I'm assuming he wants this shot locked down

maybe a Youtube/Vimeo link? I wouldn't think 4k is necessary

I was thinking you could go on Yerba Buena Island and park at the foot of the hill at the end of the westbound 80 exit, walk up North Gate Drive to a good vantage point, and set up a tripod in the grass looking directly down the westbound bridge deck. A weekday morning would provide a large volume of folks splitting through there, both in the 1/2 and the 4/5/6/whatever (some folks like that side, as they tell me.)

I haven't managed to try this yet, but I've been thinking about it since the thread started up.
