Hottest, nastiest for me was Bangkok Thailand, pretty much where ever we went in Thailand. But it's so humid you can slice it. So grosss. China in the summer is a close second, but the bonus there is the pollution.

Toughen up snowflakes.

I spent most of last week sweating my ass off. Went to a graduation in San Antonio where we had to sit outside in the sun for 2 hours before the event even began and then about an hour for the ceremony. I kid you not 4 or 5 ambulances got called in for heat stroke victims. It was the sunniest day all week and it felt like the devil's kitchen while he's baking some cookies. Then come home to the swamp and the temp goes down 5 degrees but humidity is up to intolerable levels. what sucks the worst is there is no cool off to speak of at night. It gets about 70ish but with the humidity, it is still a warm sticky mess.

I always wondered in CA why AC was not standard in all houses. My parents had to add it to our house and I put one in before we had our girls so the house was not an oven during the day.

I have central air but no A/C. The wife is losing her shit with this heat.

does anyone know if I can add AC on to an existing system, or would I need a whole new system?

thx

According to Google it is possible to add just AC to a central heat system. I do know that everyone I have talked to says that you should get matched units as the efficiency is better but they could just be trying to upsell.

The attempts I made trying to just sleep the last two nights were comical. I hope you can laugh with me at the NSFT (Not Safe For Thinking) mental picture.

I have always had a hard time sleeping unless under covers or at least a sheet. No cover, no sheet. Have a hard time sleepin nekkid unless I pass out because I don't like the sticky arms to chest, and leg to leg thing.. Dont like the feel of wife-beaters but happened to have a couple of those clingy Haines kind leftover from wearing under Mexican shirt. Regular t-shirt so hot that I woke up first night just soaked in neck sweat. . So I'm layin in the bed, got a fan on one side and a big air purifier with fan on the other. Parts too moist. Off with undies but still with the wifebeater. In short, a visual disaster that no one should ever witness and I felt idiotic (fortunately Ms. BA slept through most of it). Dont think I got more than 2 hours uninterrupted sleep because the fan dessicated my nose and throat so I'd wake up dying of thirst. Thank gawd the wind and fog kicked up by this morning. I just want to sleep.. Yeah, I'm a snowflake and this is global climate chaos baby. East Bay houses just usually don't have AC but it might be time to invest in it.

I'm and engineer, and I don't pass that off lighltly...
Yeah, cooling is a separate duty added to the central air system. It is a cooling coil added to the ductwork. Fan has to have capacity, and an needs an outside condensing unit. Cost effectiveness is always the consideration.

Hey any mechanical contractors here that do residential? I'm like, retired.
