would own a KTM if I were a real motorcycle guy,

Just busting chops John, you ride way more than most so who cares what's under your ass as long as you're going where you want and having a good time.
Nothing lasts forever.
The KTM haters bagging on KTM owners who like their bikes is funny, and sad. No brand is perfect and KTM has been kicking ass for a while.

Go look at the " what 3 bikes.."thread. How many are lusting after KTM? It's actually shocking to think about that, and where they were 20 years ago.

A new top end after every track racing weekend? 1290 adventures that had such insane exhaust heat off the rear header it was burning peoples legs? Wheels that just crack from regular riding, and KTM wonít replace them because itís not part of the powerplant warranty? 990/950ís that have to have the clutch slave cylinder replaced right off the factory showroom floor?

How many KTMís do you see with 75k miles on the original engines with just oil changes and a valve adjustment or two? Because I sure as hell can't seem to find any.

I wish I was making this stuff up, but Iím not.

Keep defending "race ready" orange lifestyle bikes. KTM is the new Ducaca/HD.
I don't need my bikes to last 75k miles. I typically get a new to me bike every other year or so. I just buy what I want and enjoy every moment out of it. I have NEVER bought a vehicle strictly out of how many miles I can get, I bought it because I love to drive it or like the way way it looks. The only exception is my 6.7 cummins, I bought that because if I HAVE TO work on it, I can actually reach everything myself without taking off half the accessories or lifting the cab.

Bought a new orange bike 6 months ago. Experienced enough "character" to know for sure a KTM cannot be an only bike in the garage.
It's one of the funnest bike I have ridden and I still won't shy away from buying another orange bike. But I'll have to have a back up Honda or something

On a side note, over the past ten years of Honda and KTM ownership, the Honda has spent more time dead in the garage than the KTM has. Just sayin'

You have probably the worst Honda engine ever made.
I say this as I stare at my broken FXR. Talk about Stockholm syndrome...

XR big single is the worst? BAJA 1000? Scott Summers, Hare Scrambles and Enduro Champ? Bubba Shobert, Ricky Graham, Doug Chandler, Ronnie Jones, Grand National Flattrack?

I love ya brother, but I can't agree with that.

The XR650L seems to be a fairly terrible engine. The 650r is another animal. The L tends to run high oil temps and not survive sustained high speeds. Particularly when any mods have been performed.
