So the BARF auction was really popular and it's pretty obvious we have some cigar smoker 'round here.

Thanks to Ratters I have a renewed interest in cigars and I've found myself in the garage almost every night this past week after everyone goes to bed for a nice bit of quiet time with a stogie.

What is your current favorite? Anything a great deal right now?

I'm currently enjoying a Punch Gran Puro. Just about 20 minutes into this thing, if that, and it's pretty mild so far. Thick smoke, a little creamy without the overbearing peppery taste of the Fuente I had Saturday.

So lets here the reviews- what's good and cheap? What is expensive and a rip off?

I was just reading up on the CAO Italia- anyone had one?

Heres a couple of people you might want to hangout with, they like cigars too.

Ah, so the turn to the darkside is now complete. :D

That Gran Puro will kick up a notch as you get to the halfway point.

And don't worry, I got an Italia for ya next time I see you. They're pretty good, not exactly in my flavor profile though.

Had and El Mejor Espresso tonite. Great Nicaraguan puro maduro I get of cbid for under two bucks a stick. Already looking forward to my post work cigar tomorrow. :teeth

Last saturday I bought two sticks. A CAO gold maduro and a Cuesta Rey Centenario. I smoked the Cuesta Rey Centenario while I was fucking off in the garage. It was ok, but didn't seem to have much flavor. Maybe my taste buds were screwed up.
Next up the CAO gold maduro. I like the regular CAO gold so I figured I would give the maduro a shot.

Ratters has me thinking about the Camacho Triple Maduro. Damn that was a creamy, fine smoke.

If you like em a bit stronger (maduro) and don't want a huge commitment (time-wise), I recommend Partagas Black Label Prontos - they on the smaller side, around 4.5"x36. But they smoke like the big dogs. All the online guys sell em - six tins of five for about $40. Good value. I get em at Mikes.

Yeah, I have the prontos quite frequently. Good 30-40 minute smoke.

And yeah, I have yet to find one person who doesn't enjoy the Triple Maduro. Got my neighbor hooked on them too.

Cigars International had a great Joe Cigar deal a couple days ago selling the Joya de Nicaragua Antano consul size for 19.99 shipped for ten of them. I orderd twice. ;) Now I'm going back to my resolution not to buy any more cigars. :teeth They've been doing some great deals lately. I check every night at 9pm to see what the new selection is.

Cool site - hadn't heard of them before. Their Joe Cigar deal is amazing. Just added them to my RSS reader. :thumbup

Thanks for the tip.

Well, just make sure to stay away from cigarbid.com. You'll save yourself into the poorhouse.

Working on a fabulous 601 Red right now. Not as full bodied as touted but smooth and full of great flavors.

BTW, if you want to learn alot about different cigars I highly recommend www.stogiereview.com. Lots of video reviews done by regular guys. Really helped me learn a lot. The Your Questions My Answers videos are great too. In fact I'm watching the latest one right now.

I just checked those cigars at a site I go to and you can save a couple of dollars on this one. I think I'm going to look for some of these and try one theis weekend.

Famous is a good shop. They also have www.cigarmonster.com which is similar to Joe Cigar, just doesn't have nearly as many good deals. Mostly just seem to be overstock on crappy brands. Every once in awhile they have a gem though.

The cheapest smoke I like are the machine made Topper extra oscuro which run about 80 cents a stick.

As we move up to the less expensive hand rolled cigars (around $2) I like the Sancho Panzas and the El Mejor Esspressos.

In the $3 to $4 range I like Gurkhas, Rocky Patels, and Olivas.

note: prices listed are from online sources and do not include the Cali tax you'll pay at a local store.

In terms of what are overpriced and overhyped, I've got to point a finger at CAO.

Hey Justyn, are you in town? Darrell, Bob, and others are coming Saturday to herf a bit over here. PM me for the address. Hope you can make it.

Working on a Gurkha Black Puro right now. I prefer the X-Fuerte but it's still an OK smoke. Funny thing about Gurkhas is their MSRP is always outrageous but you can get them for less that $3 a stick on cbid pretty much any time you want.

Yeah, I just got back in town very late Tuesday night.

What's funny is I just finished smoking a Gurkha Black Puro like 10 minutes ago. It was a slow smoke, I ended up leaving almost 3 inches in the ashtray because I got tired of sitting out in the garage (and I finished all my beer).

I'll PM you for an address, but I can't promise I'll make it. If I do I have a handfull of ISOM's I can hand out.

I've never had a Graycliff. Let me know how it turns out.

I enjoyed it quite a bit actually. Shade grown wrapper, light to medium bodied smoke. I bought it on a lark at the local store having done no research on it at all. It's their budget smoke but well made with a light draw. I did get an uneven burn from about the 1st 1/3 to 1/2 and had to do a re-light. My palette isn't developed enough to pick out all the highlights but I would buy it again. :thumbup

That's funny. I was thinking about how fast the Black Puro was going as I was smoking it. :D

I really hope you can make it, should be a good time. I'm sure they'll be plenty of cigars flingin around all day. :teeth
