Okay, rhetorical question because I just dropped the wheels off at Cycle Gear to get a new set of Heidenau K60 Scouts installed. These were on the 1997 XR650L that I bought a couple of weeks ago.

Am I seeing it right?
Are these over 10 years old?
I would not get on the HWY with those for sure!

I rode it 300 miles from Utah on those. About 100 of those miles were on the freeway at 80 mph. I didn't die or anything. :cool

Good enough for who it's for.

Don't waste your time playing Lotto.
You're already a winner!!!

Good enough for basic duty in the dry.

That 19yo tire might become a handful when the wet weather arrives.

:laughing another one? :thumbup
My son owned it for five years and it just sat in his garage for the last four. He finally got it running right and fixed all of the major stuff, then said that he wanted to sell it. I told him I got first dibs on buying the thing. My goal is to get everything running optimally, then sell it in a year or so.

...Unless someone like you comes along looking for one as happened with the last one.

You need another one? :laughing

As long as there's no cracks and the rubber isn't glazed, hard like a rock, I'd feel okay with casual riding.

12-13 year old tires aren’t worth the risk. They may look ok but are breaking down internally. You did good by changing them. But I’ve only been in the tire industry since 1995.....
