That was from Italy, early on.

I believe the US has better outcomes though I've heard 50% making it through is considered a good percentage.
 
But, but, but, but...it's the reason people are dying! The lack of ventilators and the Fed's unwillingness to get more for the States!!!

Of course it was mostly nonsense, both the impact and the faux shortage. But it made good theater for the press' crisis du jour.
 
Who was more wrong, those who overreacted and called for more equipment than needed or those who totally blew off the whole threat?

Nobody blew off the whole threat. Smart people knew that the numbers being thrown around were nonsense and said as much. And they were right.

There are still people out there in various places making nonsense estimates to serve their agenda at the expense of scaring the public.
 
Even if those who called for the ventilators were way off in their estimates those things weren't going to be manufactured and shipped overnight.
Long before any overstocked supply issues arrived the numbers were scaled back. Got the ball rolling just in case, no serious harm done.

Is that the people, like the Gov of NY who was using the CDC estimates to make his requests?

Let me be clear about my position on this.... everyone must own their actions. All I see is a bunch a BS finger pointing. Especially from the self-proclaimed "smart people." Fuck anyone who claims they're the smart one. They're usually the dumbest one with an ego problem or a mental issue.

How about everyone get the fuck over the fact that nobody really knew what we were in for and be thankful that we didn't need anywhere what we thought we would, YET? Remember smart people, this shit isnt over and it won't be for a long time. Or are the smart people able to change fact with their brain? Nah, let's leave that to the fools on the "news" channels.

We can look back and be bitches to each other all day long. What we need to be doing is quit our waste of time cannoli-hole-off-gassing and work toward understanding how and what we need to do to get out the other side of this. WHO GIVES A FUCK IF SOMEONE WAS WRONG? LETS WORK TOWARD ELIMINATING THIS THREAT TO OUR LIVES AND ECONOMY.

In the mean time, the "smart people" can be useful by applying themselves to the future, not the past.

Then there was CNN reporting that Tesla never donated the ventilators they said they did and Elon Musk had to correct them showing the "Thank you" tweets from hospitals.

Then there was "those are not ventilators, those are CPAP machines". Then Elon tweeted that the hospitals requested CPAP machines specifically because they can be used to treat Covid19.

Note Wiki's definition "Continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) is a form of positive airway pressure ventilator"
