Can’t imagine why he got divorced.

A judge has ordered a western Michigan couple to pay $30,441 to their son for getting rid of his pornography collection.

U.S. District Judge Paul Maloney’s decision this week came eight months after David Werking, 43, won a lawsuit against his parents.

He said they had no right to throw out his collection of films, magazines and other items. Werking had lived at their Grand Haven home for 10 months after a divorce before moving to Muncie, Indiana.

The judge followed the value set by an expert, MLive.com reported. Werking’s parents also must pay $14,500 to their son’s attorney.

Wow, just when you think you've heard it all...

Replace porn with motorcycle, or anything else you value. Just because you live with someone, doesn't mean they can just throw away your property.

Sad. Similar to the Nirvana naked baby douche suing the band and label siting 'child pornography' 20+ years later

Parents should counter sue for unpaid rent etc.

Why? Do you have some information that wasn't reported that there was an agreement for him to pay rent that he didn't abide by?

Werkings vs. Jerkings

Knowing the court system, I'll bet his parents didn't get a lawyer and never got a chance to question the value put on his porn collection.

They got thoroughly screwed, and the porn collection was probably worth less than $1,000.

I hope they have other kids that they can assure get everything.

The parents missed an opportunity, they should have said that there was child porn among his collection and that's why they threw it out.

So many assumptions, and vilification, because of the word porn.

Could have been vintage stuff. Could have had a toxic wife.

But no! He had a bunch of porn! So he must be reviled as a person! Shame be upon him!

It's ironic to me, because I'm pretty sure I've seen these same names criticizing American society for being excessively puritanical about sexual things.

Nah, I ain't worried about that, but the idea that he sued his parents who were helping him out is pretty fucking gross.

Nah, two wrongs don't make a right. Regardless of if this dude is a good or bad person, wrongfully sticking someone with child porn charges ain't cool.
It wouldn't have had to come to him being charged, there was no proof. It would have been a plausible defense.

The parents getting stuck with over $46k of charges for what was probably a stash worth $1k at most is not cool.

Definitely not cool. I'm not defending him. Just saying that kind of get-back is kinda deplorable in my eyes. Regardless of what the legal result is, whatever family and friends he has still that have his back might forever change their opinion regardless of legitimate charges.

Like accusing someone of rape when you know they didn't rape you and having zero proof other than he said she said.

That part I can agree with. But I do also find fault in parents that would just toss their kids stuff without asking, and telling him they’re doing him a favor.

Basically, plenty of F’ed up attitudes to go around here.
