Here's a couple of good (and a little repetitive) vids on how to better ride a big ADV bike in sand.

In my younger years I rode quite a bit of sand on my dirt bikes for fun and competition. Difficult at first as you learn and build confidence it gets easier and even fun.
That kinda changes when your on a 500+ pound bike. (and 30 years older)

Here's a couple videos I found accurate and informative on riding big ADV bikes in sand.

Soft sand is a challenge for all motorcycle riders! Here are the steps you can practice to ride in deep sand. Bret demonstrates using his BMW R1200GS. Special thanks to Ryan at FORTNINE for the collaboration!

Is there any low-traction terrain that strikes fear into the hearts of adventure motorcyclists more than deep sand? Professional motorcycle instructor Dusty Wessels teaches you how to ride and safely control your heavy adventure bike through all depths of loose sand on road and off-road.

Thanks for the education John.

Good Shit.

Im finally pretty decent in sand on thumpers. Hope it translates to the big bike if I ever take it in sand.

Same here,
I like riding sand on my XR400, and I'm sand curious with my 1090, but honestly the thought of riding sand on my 1090 is a bit terrifying.. I would like to practice some so I know what to expect in case I ever end up having to ride sand on a long trip or ride.

I hit some sand once on my 990 and it was a piece of cake, but the 990 and 1090 are very different bikes to me.

The dry washes here are full of washboard.
So bad that the S x S are moving left to get out of the washboard and flattening the center hump and spreading this loosness out to the left track.

So,
everything left of the washboard is twice as deep and all loose now.
Then there are the sections that extend into the powdery dust from sand washes, where my TW gets the death rattles from overheating grinding along in third.

No way I would try this with the scrambler, it carries its' weight up high in the steering neck. I could get flung soo far, , ,

I was super nervous about the "dedep sand washes" noted in a few sections ofhte CABDR. Turns out on a light bike like the DRZ you just need to stay loose and give it some gas and it's pretty fun.
