Edit: The StonyBARF 15 Photo thread https://www.bayarearidersforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=554551&highlight=StonyBARF

This is a really great opportunity to meet other folks. All levels of riders and everyone is welcome; per Lord CJ: Stonyford is family friendly, new riders welcome... encouraged. Riding for all kinds of bikes from two strokes to adventure bikes as well as all skill levels.

Big fun, $20 per party.
Paypal to motobutch@gmail.com or pay at the site to me hopefully…

This camp site is real nice, especially in that we have our own bathroom and water and a gate to keep out the riff raft, present company excused. It is a pretty nice place to camp and hang out, even if you aren't riding.

The weather https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClic...1#.XuJF0C8ifmp

Folks going up Thursday should have the reservation information.

Give money to some awesome volunteer if you didn't Paypal. $20 per party.
It goes without saying that we leave the site cleaner that were arrived. This is really easy with a responsible group like you guys.

:party looking forward to it! Afternoon's in September are warm enough to be a great time for the swimming holes and bench racing (and of course lawn chairs and beers while soaking your feet.) :thumbup

Hoping I can make it to stonybarf 16! Been a few that I've missed due to work issues, but I'd love to get out there for this one! :ride

I'm going to put in some effort to make this work. Need to get my self on a dirt bike! Haven't ridden dirt since the sheet iron. :thumbdown

Hope to see you all there!

Looks like an awesome time, have fun!! I'd love to go but already committed to going to Babes Ride Out in Santa Barbara that weekend

I would like to attend this, how do I sign up? Also, I ride a KTM 890 Adventure R, are there other ADV riders who are going to attend who I can ride with?

No real signup sheet. Butch usually starts a list, based on yes replies on the thread.
I’m sure if any others with big bikes will see you post and chime in. There is still lots of time for plans to form.

Thanks for the reply! I regularly ride at Hollister Hills and ride the blues there. I've never been to Stoneyford but have a neighbor who rides there and Penney Pines who has given me some advice on appropriate ares to ride there and will ride them alone (as I do at HH) but would be great to have someone to ride with. In my younger days picking up the 890 by myself would not have been a problem but sadly these are not my younger days.....I carry a motorcycle ratchet jack and can get the bike back up with it's help but always easier if someone can just help.

Speaking of the ratchet jack I did some searching for them (a standing post with a ratchet strap system that lifts the bike off the ground - not the recovery rope and pulley systems that pull a bike out of a ditch or whatever like the Best Rest or Green Chili - but a post with a ratchet strap that lifts the bike to a standing position. One is the MotoBikeJack, one is the Eastwood MotoWinch, one is the DirtNapper, and one is Dustriders Motorcycle Hoist. They are all the same concept - a post with a ratchet strap attached to the top with a hook at the end of the strap. The difference is in the stand tubes - usually 2 or 3 that fit into each other that are round or square - the overall size, and importantly, depending on whether you are on the road or dirt, the base. The MotoBikeJack has a single leg with a square plate that looks like it would be good on the road (ie a flat non-cambered surface) , the Eastwood has a single leg with a rubber cushion (like a crutch has) and the Dustriders starts with a single pole that splits in a Y to have two legs - each has a small rectangular foot that can rotate, and the DirNapper has a square tubes and flat rectangular plate. I steered away from the MotoBikeJack because the trails where I drop my bike are never really flat - they are usually rounded, off camber, or veed out with ruts. I was leery of the rubber cushion on the Eastwood for the same reason, and would have bought the DirtNappper as it looked to be the lights and the rectangular base (like a split square) looked like it would work but they are not available now or in the determinate future. I ended up getting tge Dustiders and based on wherer/how I have needed to use it I am glad I did although it looks to be the largest and heaviest of the bunch. The split legs with the small rotating rectangular bases really helped in the off camber trail - I was able to be stable from two different contact points and the rotating bases allowed them to be set against the off camber parts of the trail independently of each other.

I feel much better riding alone now knowing when I do my best Artie Johnson (anyone remember him in his yellow rainsuit and tricycle from Laugh In??) - I don't have to rely on being lucky and having another rider come along to help like I have in the past. This has been such relief that I think I will post the above information in a separate post for those who do not follow this string

We will be there

Yo moots, thanks for the hoister lessons. I have read about those but have never actually seen one. I’d like to see one in action, with a beer in my hand.

Peeps are really generous sharing their expertise on these trips.
You will enjoy.

Hope to be able to swing this, but planning on being there. Undecided wether I’ll ride up or bring the Beta.

Thanks for putting this together Butch

Hoping to get there for my second time, and planning to wrangle up some more ladiiiiies!

It's on the calendar. I can't wait to get back to Stony.

Most probably for sure trying hard to be there. It's been great every time!
