Work Party Saturday February 11 9am Middle Creek Campground

CHECK IN: Volunteer Check in 9am, Saturday, USFS Middle Creek Campground, Mendocino National Forest, 8 miles north of Upper Lake on County Road 301 (Forest Road M-1).
CAMP: camping available on site with toilets and water; trailers/RVs ok.
JOBS: will include hand tool work, cutting and moving cut tree limbs, and other trail repair and restoration work.
FOOD: Bring your own lunch/food (unless we get a sponsor/donor) and hydration fluids.
GEAR: Bring personal protective gear if you have it; some will be available on-site.
DATES: work is scheduled to take place the 2nd Saturday of each month of January, February, March, April, May, June, (nothing in July – September), October, November, and December.
VOLUNTEER: Post up here if you can make it.
BACKGROUND: PWORA is working with the Mendocino National Forest, Upper Lake District to build new trails and restore fire-damaged trails. The Mason Trail Connector is a conversion to OHV use of approximately 1.3 miles of the abandoned logging road and will provide a connection between two existing Mendocino National Forest OHV trails. The trail was partially constructed by the Mendo NF and improved with 3 other culverts in locations along with the trailbed but lacked a sustainable all-season creek crossing in one location. PWORA constructed a multiplate culvert to provide an all season, sustainable and fire-resistant creek crossing to complete the new trail. Final preparations and arrangements are being made by PWORA and Mendo NF to prepare for an official opening of the trail in 2023.

I'll be there bright and early. Should have at least 3, if not 4 NFS current certified sawyers with our saws, including myself in our group.

It's a maybe for Hyper and I.
We both dinged our selves riding at Chappie last week.

We had a great turnout for Saturday's work party!

Several moto crews worked both sides of the ridge near Penny Pines and beyond, we also had a USFS operator running a mini dozer to help clear the way.

UTV crews went out to French Ridge to start getting the OHV corridor to Stonyford cleaned up.

Beautiful day, killer views, lots of work done and a whole lot more left to be done.

Looking forward to the next one on March 11!

What a great turn out! Our group had a blast on trail 15! Good to see so many folks and get some work done!

Awesome guys!
I cleared trail 15 last year Hyper helped!).
How is the campground? Or is it closed as well?
Hopefully we will be in good shape to make it next month.

Penny pines camp ground is closed. It didn’t look too bad though. There were people camping at Middle Creek so I assume it’s open.

Thanks for the photos bananachunks! It was a great day. Everyone worked until they couldn't any Longer. We moved thousands of pounds of lumber. I hope I can make the next one too.

Update on by busted up nacelle. AF1 had both halves in stock, and it was only $50 for both. Two-day shipping, so I picked them up yesterday and ran over to Moto Guild. As much as installing the heated grips sucked, replacing the nacelle/tower/supports was surprisingly not horrible. $50 and 4 hours of my time, and everything is good as new. It's crazy how stout that plastic is until it leans up against a tree...

Nice! Good to hear the parts were only $50. Sometimes parts like that, can be priced ridiculously. Now, next workday, no more running into trees!
