Old guy having fun
The annual California HUBB adventure-rider gathering is on! The entire Mariposa fairgrounds site has been rented for the event, so there's plenty of room to camp and there are several buildings for presentations.
If you've never attended a HUBB gathering, it's a chance to mingle with riders who might have been somewhere you'd like to go -- or might like to go somewhere you've been; share tips and experiences; learn from other people's mistakes (yeah, I once tried to ship my bike to Panama and it only made it to Miami); and, of course, meet some very interesting people. I've met lifelong friends at the California event, including Grant and Susan Johnson, the Canadian couple who started Horizons Unlimited.
The cost for early registration is $89 (it goes up a week before the event). There are additional costs for camping and meals on site, but they are optional and there are places to stay and eat in town if you prefer. Details are on the website:
https://www.horizonsunlimited.com/events/california-2024
The first event presentation takes place Thursday, April 18th, and the last will be Sunday morning.
If you don't know Mariposa, it's a cool little town in the Sierra foothills on highway 49 at the junction where 140 goes up into Yosemite.
If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. I'm one of the event organizer volunteers, and I'll be doing a couple of presentations. If you come, please find me and say hi!
