10 Adventure Bikes you will regret buying

I was kind of surprised to see the Africa Twin DCT on that list. There's a fair amount of love for the DCT over on ADVRider. It's not MY first choice, but there are certainly devotees of DCT. And the Africa Twin is a strong bike either way.

Not an in depth take.. a few comments and ranking.

I'm curious if the person writing this had actually experienced the DCT in the dirt to justify the concerns about it.

Half the bikes on that list I never heard of.

I only got to the first on the list and I'm calling the article totally bogus and uninformed.

The first on the list is the KTM 790R, which is the best bike that I've ever owned. There have been zero problems with it in 10,000 miles and two years of ownership. It works best for the type of riding that I enjoy, out of all the choices available. I really, really love that bike.

It's kind of dumb to go to a car magazine for motorcycle information. :thumbdown

Agree with pretty much everything you said, especially the last sentence. :thumbup

10 Adventure bike articles you will regret reading

Can we change the title of this thread to:

10 Adventure Bike articles you will regret reading? :laughing

Beats me I've never ridden a lot of those bikes so I can't comment on em. I have ridden an Africa Twin DCT and I thought it was alright. Nice not having to shift or push to shift. Thing is a beast though.

I always wondered why they went from the 790 to 890 right away

I can see how some of those bikes are on that list...but the DCT Africa Twin...no way LOL

Did a ride up to Oregon a few months ago and camped out at Lost Coast with 2 Africa Twins...one DCT and the other manual. I don't own these bikes so it was a fair test and guess what...the DCT was fantastic for trail riding. With a steady hand it's practically cruise control (which is also has LOL) and you can really focus on just taking your lines and keeping the bike upright. Granted these bikes are heavy, but it's a lot of bike in terms of what it offers. Another thing to note, when riding uphill on trails...being able to stop on an incline for whatever reason without the roll back....quite awesome.
