It's been a while, but I've done this before - a lot of information (and my common-sense ruleset) is in the last thread, here:

This ride be similar, 100 to 150 miles from meet-up to finish line.

If you're interested in joining, post "I'm a Newbie and I'm in" or some such. If there are enough Newbies wanting to join (at least two - seems easy enough), I'll confirm and post more details.

I reserve the right to cancel the ride if it rains within 48 hours of KSU. No need to deal with slick roads, mud, etc. on a training ride...

That is cool Atticus. :teeth

I am buried in life stuff and Berryessa is a long haul that means I will be out of pocket all day.
I do love the area and would like to support it.

Holy crap - looking back, I can't believe it's been five years! I suppose this is overdue...

We are coming back from a visit to the granddaughter (new:) ) on 3/20, have a concert 3/21 but this is in our backyard and the FJR needs some love as have been riding the 950 a lot more. Not a noob but have led plenty of noob and other rides and would be happy to sweep if you would like. Will keep my eye peeled for more info as the time gets closer...will try and get the youngest boy out with us if he can as he is riding now also and could use some group etiquette rides :)

Who the hell is hacking this account- a ghost of some kind...? Dude!

Not a newbie but been in a break. If the new bike arrives on time I’d love this!

It seems that there aren't any true newbies committed, so we'll make this a "smooth and quick" ride. If a newbie does show, that changes things and I'll take the newbie out; the others can take off as a separate group.

Weather in Napa should be cloudy, 55 to 70, only a tiny chance of rain. I'll be on a white BMW F800s with a Givi trunk or a white/red Aprilia Tuono with a tailbag.

Meet: 10am March 22 @ Starbucks, 4490 Central Way #100, Fairfield, CA 94534
Pre-Ride Brief: 10:15am (if you miss this, you miss the ride)
Kick Stands Up: 10:30am
Lunch: After
Finish: about 2pm or so @ Starbucks
The Route - similar to last year, but shorter at 130 miles: *$ > Wooden Valley > 121> 128 > Berryessa Knoxville> Pope Canyon > Chiles Pope Valley > Howell Mountain/Deer Park > Silverado > Petrified Forest/Calistoga > St. Helena/Springs Mountain > Silverado > Sage Canyon > 128 > 121> Wooden Valley > *$

The first rule of this ride is "safety first" - the safer we are, the longer we get to ride, on this day and every other. If you're riding dangerously/out of control, there will be a One-Chance Chat. A second violation will mean that I ask you to leave. By showing up for this ride, you acknowledge and agree that you are responsible for you. That's an ethos that I encourage you to carry forward.

To show up, you need to have the following:
  • A good night's sleep and a good attitude
  • A safe motorcycle (tire tread/pressure, brakes, suspension)
  • A full tank of gas
  • Full gear (DOT helmet, jacket, gloves, pants, boots, hopefully a back protector)

Everyone should bring:
  • Plenty of water
  • Snacks, just in case
  • Tools for the bike you're riding
  • A tire patch/pump kit if you have one

See you there...

I'm out for tomorrow. Sorry. Kids are away for the weekend, just me and the missus.

I love you all, but I'm not passing up a kid free weekend with the love of my life :leghump

(by kids, I mean the 20 year old and my mother-in-law)
