Can distinctly remember being in our elementary school auditorium listening to a rendition of Prokofiev's Peter and the Wolf. That performance cemented an appreciation for symphonic music. Later, I noted that my favorite pieces were those of a marchy style by Austro-Prussian composers.
When I met my wife, she had a few cassettes of Rachmaninov & Prokofiev. I owned a piano, couldn't play it. She could. Game, set, match.
Recently, my daughter was remembering Peter & the Wolf and explained to her that I played the David Bowie version for her back then. She's preggers, so that'll be passed on to another generation.
