I just bought two R6's and now I'm spinning!!

As the title says, I recently purchased two track ready R6's to finally start competing. I have wanted to race for a while now and finally had the means and time to do it.

My question, did I miss the boat? Seems like the 600's are just about done. Will I still have a class to race in over the next 5 years or so?

I don't have social media and I can't see the bikes people are riding in the race results. I hope there are plenty but I just don't know.

Can someone put me at ease or give me the bad news now? I am looking to be a regular on the track for the next 10 years. If I have to put a stop on my dream of racing the R6 and settle for something else, what? I don't want to ride 400's. The liter bikes seem to be following the same trend. What is going on to this sport? I tuned out getting enough money to support this habit and the whole industry changed it seems. Lost... please help.
 
What year are your R6's? Many R6's still race and are very competitive, even ones many years old. You can also race in Super Dino or Legacy if they are older models. 2007 and older for Super Dino and I believe 2014 and older for Legacy.
 
Man alive, you're that concerned about racing a mainstream sportbikes at the club level? Not sure what you're reading but AFM has ample opportunity to race an R6 in more classes that you probably have the fitness or desire for. You're good my friend, bring 'em out.

15' and 14'. I was on the phone with a few people talking about some gear that I ordered and it led into them asking what bikes I have. I told them and they all asked "why did you get those?" or something similar. Made me just find everything I could about what was wrong with the bikes I have. So happy to hear that is not so!

Thank you! I just got all in my head and spun into a wild hole on the internet. I don't have many real people that I can ask questions to and there is a website for any opinion. I couldn't weed through what was applicable to me. I just invested 40K in this sport between trailer, bikes, building them out, gear, tools, and all the other stuff. Was a big put for me and when I heard I may have messed up it put me in a spin for a while. Can't wait to get out and ride, connect with the community.

I am coming from a background of Karts and Miada racing. I have made a few larger investments in Kart classes a while back just for it to be eliminated and turned into a ghost town in a year or two. It hurt when that happened. Had me thinking I did it again!
 
Yeah I get it, things change, but an R6 and related support materials will always have appeal to racers and the track day crowd. Take NRS (new racer school) at one of the track day providers or with AFM (check if there is one next round) and come join us next month at Thunderhill.

My bud just started racing AFM this year on a '10 R6.
3 wins and a 2nd in clubman so far.

The R6 is a fantastic platform and I am sure the advice you got was pointed to racing in MotoAmerica.

I'm with these two smart(er) guys: you done good. The R6 is a FANTASTIC platform for racing in the AFM. Plenty of other bikes to race, and good classes. Stick with your R6's. There's lots of knowledge on setup, etc on these bikes and they're good enough to put on the box in FP.
