MS Project

Anyone use MS Project 2010? Any tips, advise, etc? Been looking at all the free online resources and picking it up slowly. Trying to see if others used anything specific to help develop their project management skills. BTW, i have a project due on Monday.

Well... MS Project manager is basically.. well the 2007 one or perhaps 2003 one was basically XLS with added features, like the ability to easily make Gantt charts and organize shit pretty fast.

If your project is due monday.... is it feasible that it is DONE monday?

aren't project plans just a giant Gantt chart with nested task dependencies? Just find a sample file on the internet and modify it.

Pretty much Merc.

I mean, even stupidly complex projects should not take more than a whole day. I generally whipped up a project chart for 23 languages with about 7-10 steps a language in a few hours.

I've used a couple of open source programs. They all worked well enough, but weren't as good as MS Project IMO.

The Head First series of books are decent in terms of picking up new skills. They have a Head First PMP book, which although intended to help someone pass the PMP, does a good job of teaching some basic PM skills.
