Hello friends, the small business I have worked for the past seven years is winding down their business so most staff have been laid off, including myself.

I am not desperate to find employment immediately as we have a comfortable cushion saved up and I will be receiving some severance pay, but I am on the look out for new opportunities. I don't know enough about motorcycles (yet) to be useful in that regard, so I am not a good fit for the jobs I currently see posted here. But if someone you know has a need for a technically proficient executive admin/hr/hiring manager/compliance specialist or any adjacent type of position that draws upon the same skill sets, please know that I have a resume that is available to peruse and I would be interested in learning more. I work hard at what I do and I like to be as useful as possible. At the same time, I value a healthy work/life balance.

Edit: Primarily looking in and around the South Bay.

Thank you and ride safe :ride

Could be time for a career change.

One of my wife’s clients is a recruiter at a large tech firm but is going to school nights to become an RN. She’s sick of the corporate world and wants a complete change of scenery.

My son has been a middle school teacher for several years and is switching to law enforcement.
He’ll make way more money and won’t have to deal with the school system bureaucracy that drags on him.
And he’s looking forward to well needed change.

Neither has been laid off, they’ve both decided to “go for it” at this stage of their lives.

Maybe something to consider.

Spent time in both of the bolded above. Agree about the bureaucracy in teaching profession. In my experience, law enforcement has its own.

Decided to be a tennis professional. Being self-employed was enjoyable, expected that I'd never truly retire. Oops, I fired myself. Why? Frick'n bureaucracy! Everyone wanted a piece of the pie, city, school district, EDD, fed gov't, insurance, etc. Suggest to all that staying in a profession that has a strong pension/retirement package is important consideration.

So true. Putting a substantial amount of your pay into a 401k while raising kids and paying a Bay Area size house payment is impossible for many.

If I was new to the job market or changing jobs a pension would be my first consideration.

Now you can go on the Pit Ho rally this weekend!

even though you think you don't know enough about the moto industry I'd say apply at the local moto shops and see if you can get in. With a bright mind and the knowledge you possess you might end up helping the industry recruit more women.
