Post / Chat whores post here (2025)

I don’t trust the electronic load testers at Kragens and other parts stores. They frequently give false positives on battery health. You need a tester that will apply a real load on the battery. Inferring battery health from electronic data is rife with errors.

And you didn’t tell me what the voltage readings were.

2017 is certainly a strong indicator that your battery has reached the end of its life. That’s 8 years old. I put an Optima Red Top in my Murano.

Only number I need to see.:thumbdown
Be glad it didn't happen in a few weeks... at night... in the rain. :laughing
:x yeah the number, 12/17, is in the picture. :mad :laughing

I would not have known its age, had the person at Kragen's not commented "wow this is a bit old" (but clean) . I think she/they meant the state of the battery? Or the engine bay? Hmm :dunno

And you didn’t tell me what the voltage readings were.
sorry. It was mentioned briefly in the previous post. 12.4 V , was the reading on the handheld tester while at Kragen's Auto.

Don't really have any other readings, nor do I have a Min/Max voltmeter. I could measure it with a simple meter , but the battery in the car is charging with one of these now

Assuming your old battery was fully charged when that reading was taken, 12.4 volts means that it should it should have already been replaced. A fully charged new battery is 12.8 volts. A completely discharged battery reads 12.0 volts. A good, used battery can be as low as 12.6 or possibly 12.5 volts and still do its job.

8 years is old enough, replace it. If $$$ are tighter have a wholesale account with batteries plus, I can pick up a high quality battery but will need the core.

After you get a new battery, make sure you do a check of the charging system. It’s easy to do. After the engine is idling, measure the voltage at the battery.

Morning hoerzeses.

What’s up? I may take the Ibex out today.
