Okay, I decided which grill to get!! Propane won out. Though in a little bit of time I'll buy a weber charcoal grill to balance things out. ;)

The one I chose is an Aussie Bushman Elite Gas Grill it has these things I like:
large grilling space for its compact stature :nerd
good looks - nice wood side table, privacy panel, cover included to keep its good looks
warming rack (good for warmin the buns ;))
side burner (not side burns) (gonna be great to do the surf part of surf and turf)
good price

Its at Target for $139, tank sold separately.

Now who can tell me where to buy a tank for this grill? I like this blue rhino thing, it has a gauge on it that shows the gas level (I think). And do I have to exchange the tank or is there a place that'll fill mine? I don't wanna exchange... its like getting water delivery from Alhambra... or like... exchanging underwear!! :green :laughing

As before, I really do appreciate everyone's input. Thanks! :)

I'm undecided on which of two grills to get (read grills, not girls :p) And there's two, one of each kind, that I am lookin at getting. Problem is I can't decide which one to get. I'm not crazy about the combo grills I've seen, but I think I'd like both... and I don't really want to have two grills on my patio, but don't like the features of the combo grill and don't want to spend $200 on a grill right now... :blah

So anyways, tell me which you think I should get and why. And I think to me what matters most is the taste of the food, but I don't want it to take forever to cook either... :blah

I want the one that does both, and you should too.

Propane for "quick" cooking over a flame, and charcoal for when you really want to smoke the meat or just have the great smells.

what are the things you don't like about the combo other than price?

I have a 1 1/2 year old Sears Kenmore Grill. I got a new Weber grill and now have the old one. Works great. Just need to buy a propane tank. Has one side burner plus the grill. Make me an offer and its yours.!!!

Im not sure if you can use charcoal on it though....

You get a better BBQ taste with Charcoal.....yum yum

But Propane is easier and a lot quicker!

I like using the charcoal! :teeth

awwwwww, finally something I know something about!:teeth

I LOVE BBQ'ing, I think it is the only way to cook, fuck I was trying to convince my mom to let me throw the 23 pound turkey into the webber last thanksgiving but she would't let me.

Personelly, I like the charcoal much better. Sure propane is easier, just start it up and your ready to go once the grill's hot but that's the pussy way of BBQ'ing. Your missing out in the true meaning of BBQ! And that is making the pyramid of coals and pouring on the lighterfluid. You let that soak in while you open another beer and talk with your roommate, then you light it as you guys get quiet while watching the flames for a little while.

Once the coals are grey, you spread em out put the grill on and now your ready! There's nothing more better than drinking beer and bbq'ing over a CHARCOAL webber.

:laughing my roommate just walked in with a 18 pack and asked "ya wanna start the fire?" I'm outta here, gotta go grill, but yea, get a charcoal BBQ for sure.

nothing like tossing the filet mignon on the webber!

dunno about you guys, but i can actually taste the smell of the propane on my meat when i use it...weird, huh?

charcoal all the way.

Perhaps as a purist, charcoal, but some of my best grilling has been on my Weber gas grill over the last couple of years, and IMHO the difference in flavor isn't nearly enough to induce me to go back (amateur griller that I am).

Benefits to me of propane are much better heat control - especially low heat - and ablity to do lots more in combining searing/slow-cooking plus much easier (for me anyway) to cook chicken/steaks/vegetables and have 'em all come out right, especially for larger parties.

I agree with what everyone said. :teeth

Me, personally, I wish I had the combo, but I can't afford it right now. Someday, I will buy one. Currently, I own a gas grill.

I like charcoal for the taste, but I don't like using it coz it takes forever to get it started, I have to keep maintaining the fire/heat and clean-up can get messy.

If you don't like to spend too much time on the grill, then gas is the way to go. All you do is just turn it on. To get some "taste" (I haven't tried this yet), use a wood smoker box or homemade aluminum packet with wood chips in it.

Target is selling a gas grill for $99 + tax right now. Charcoal grills are usually inexpensive.

Happy shopping!

I love a meal cooked over a charcoal grill....

the aroma of the meat/fish/chicken/burgers/hotdogs and its always juicy....and don't forget the vegetables....

chargrilled carrots, potatos.....

I am with BadDad on this. I have propane for the weeknights or quick meals and a Weber for the weekends and those great steaks. Also, keep in mind that cooking on coal is a skill. It is damn hard to cook some good ribs on coal, when you need them to be on a med hot fire for 2-6 hours. Propane grills will allow you to manipulate the heat easier than charcoal, but will also give you the best flavor.

I have both. I LOVE my Gas Grill. I use the gas 99% of the time. It is so quick and easy. If I could, I would sell it and buy one (Stainless Steel) with the side burner. I bought the Largest "Big Easy" grill that Charbroil makes, but I bought the one with the rottiserrie feature. I almost never use it.
I also have a brand new 'one touch Weber' that I only use for doing Turkeys. I smoke a mean Turkey on the grill.
I did about 8 of them over the holidays, for friends.

I have both. Depending on what I cook determines which meathod gets used. I do have to add to everybody elses suggestions though. Use a charcoal chimney to get the coals going. No karosene taste that way.
