We have room to get a recliner type chair and I'm finding there's a lot of options. I've never owned a recliner so I'm not sure how much 'reclining' I'll be doing.

I did read that tilt-back or push back recliners are better constructed.

I like of the idea of comfy armed chair with an ottoman. Currently scouring CL and FB for deals.

What do you use and why?

You have kids right? Get the chair/ottoman combo. Anything mechanical will get destroyed:laughing

We have an expensive leather recliner from Macy's Furniture up in Novato that Ms BA bought with actual inheritance money. It
s so comfortable that we have have rules about who gets to sit in it. Since she retired, she gets it all day and all afternoon unti about 5:30. Then I move in...I know its a meme about geezer dads and recliners and ya know what? I don't care.

But yeah, kids would likely break the footrest part after a time. I think we're gonna wear the whole thing out even being careful.

My couch has a built in recliner. Best of both worlds.

yeah, I like the armrest part on both sides. If I hold my geetar against the right one, it sets up a resonation of the whole chair below. It's like a leetle ampolfier right in my living room, no electricity required. This is domestic bliss.

+1
if not destroyed, will be used to smash fingers and then get destroyed. recliners and rockers are basically a collection of pinch points disguised as furniture. the glider style ones are the worst, pinch points with 4 really dull scissors suspending the chair
