I'm looking at either the Scorpion SR-i900 or 1100S alarm systems. Does anyone have any opinions or review on them? Thanks!

I have the i600 as well, there are a couple of drawbacks I have seen/experienced first the PROS

PROS
- It works as designed,
- The parameter senors does keep people at bay
- It is really annoying and loud
- Installation Instructions is well document (Need to set the day aside though)
- Its fun to set it off as your off in visual view sipping a Jamba Juice and watch people freak

CONS
- It drains the battery in about 10 days or less (The Low Battery cutoff never worked) This forces the need of a battery tender (No big deal really)
- Sensor/Pager whatever you wish to call it is limited in range, if the say 1/2 mile then that is based on NON REAL world situations. My guess is they tested on a flat tarmac with line of site to the bike. At best in a real world situation your looking at 100 yards at best. If your in a building it reduces that distance further.
- I never trusted the panic switch (Aka electrical shutoff) for that reason I had visions of it malfunctioning in a sweeper :( Anyway, I figure if I am looking at my bike being ridden away then I got insurance.

Overall
Very much worth it IMO just for the peace of mind and making it that much harder to steal. I always park my bike locked up with disc locks and the alarm on next to unprotected ducati's :)

A short story
I worked at a company in Sunnyvale for a bit, a group of engineers went to lunch as I watched them walk out the door. Within seconds the alarm goes off my pager is going butt nuts and I glance out the window to witness one of these retards trying to get off my bike. The dude sat on it. I was immediately in his face and the fun began. Well you see there was this language / cultural barrier, I was reprimanded for offending the individual who seem to not understand the American term of "WTF you doing Moron"

I've got the i900 on my FJR. Easy plug and play install and it works as advertised. The only problem I have is I keep walking up to it and setting off the perimeter alarm because I always forget it's set!

Does the fob not automatically disable the alarm when you're in proximity? How about the comments others have made about draining the batt?

I dont know about auto off if the FOB is in your pocket.

The unit will at least the i600 goes will pull enough drain in 10 days to kill the batt.

I set up a on off switch that removes the link to the batter and stops the drain. I only flip that switch when it is in my garage. With the dogs, a harden chain and disc locks the alarm is not needed. I also have a Batt tender which is on at all times.

I have the i900. Drains battery, and Perimeter Sensor gets me when I don't have the fob (but that's why you get the damn thing!), but I love it; peace of mind, a better way of theft deterrent (but if they want your bike bad enough, no security system will stop them). If I don't start the bike every 3-4 days, I don't have enough juice to start the bike. Just switched to BikeMaster TruGel battery from stock Yuasa, and gotta see the results.

How did you do that and what did you use?

If you guys actually :ride your bikes (and your charging system is working properly), you won't have to worry about the battery drain. But if you park it in the garage (or street - :later) for two weeks at a time and only take it to your local *$ when the sun shines and it's ~80 degrees, then yeah, you might have some problems :dunno

I picked up a On/Off 2 pole Micro Switch at the local NAPA store. I placed this inline on the power lead to the batter from the main unit.

It simply cuts the power to the Scorpio. When I first installed the scorpio, If I road everyday there is no issue at all. when winter hit, I do not ride as much and foudn the battery dead at the 8 - 10 mark. I did this and I have never had a dead battery. But I also added the Battery Tender. On long haul weeks when i know I will not be riding, I turn it off via Micro Switch and keep the tender on.

PS It is also Hidden and in easy access. The alarm will go off if you forget to turn the power back on and start your bike (Don't ask me why and don't ask me how I found out) :thumbup :laughing

Cool, thanks.

Could'nt attach the image in the PM, so here it is

It is a basic 2 pole 8 amp dc Microswitch. Sorry I got it actually at Kragens for about $4

Essentially you will place it inline on the black power lead that connects to the battery. Get your self two female connectors, you will have to cut and attach the connectors to reconnect to the Switch.

I used a piece if sticky backed Velcro to mount it on the sub-frame and attached to the switch, It has ever fallen off. If it did it would land in the cradle and not pose a problem.

the mark on the switch itself is to indicate off, I am anal that way :)
