A Quick History Of The Indian 101 Scout

if I were ever in the market for whatever vintage bike my heart desired, I’d have to think long and hard about choosing the Indian 101 Scout. :afm199

Mr Franklin was a good example of the truism that “racing improves the breed.”

Thanks for sharing John. Super cool. :thumbup

Totally agree with the decision to switch it to a right hand throttle. Impressive walk through by Mr. Leno and his choice to not make it a museum piece is respected ;)

Mr. Franklin would now be on my list of historical figures to have a beer with. :teeth

I had never seen this before and thanks to the article I found it!

I love Mr Hopkins, but he specializes in playing conflicted, damaged characters. After I watched "The World's Fastest Indian" on DVD, I'd enjoyed the movie a bunch, but didn't really recognize the Mr Munro character he played as any sort of motorcycle guy I know.

Then I watched the DVD extras with the home movies of jolly Mr Munro, and there was a motorcycle guy I recognized. :laughing:gsxrgrl

"Offerings to the God of Speed" is worthy ... :hail

Mr. Munro is definately on my have a beer with list. :laughing

I loved the movie mucho. Probably have watched it 5 times now.

I also have a small modest collection of "Offerings to the God of Speed"
I just don't have that dusty shelf of broken parts, along a wall.

One isn't a bike part, like a holed piston, bent valve, but the end ball of a steering tie rod for my '64 E-Type.
So, yes, I had a one wheel steer, for a bit on Hwy 12, on my way to Napa. :wow

Indian Scout? This is the military version of the best post 101 Scout

My 1941 Indian 640 Army Scout. Like a '40 but with lower compression, smaller carb venturi, and military accessories. Mostly the U.S. Government bought Harley WLAs.
