They finally shared, after close to 20 years wintering in the Az. desert.
They never stopped when flying over Hope, Harriers, Osprey, Sea Kings, all capable of landing, on site.
Fly on by, Sure they might hit the throttle for a little shock & awe, maybe even a roll over to see everyone waving as they blast past.
Nobody bitches about the C130's low & slow, F 18's across the ridge tops.
Did get a kick when a couple of Wort Hogs, did the loop, They were flying like they had jet powered Ag. Cats, working the thermals. Joy of flying.

Great good news. How about the bike?

Gotta wonder about $$$$ though....

rad! Marines to the rescue. Saving a life on their practice run is awesome.

The money was spent on training well before the rider threw a leg over the saddle. The rescue was just a bonus. Just like an NFL flyover, our piolets will get their flight time and the public got a bonus out of it. Win win! :flag

SPOT is a good choice for emergency location.

Maybe, hope so.

We tested a lot of locator products when I was with West Marine and they first came out. SPOT was kind of a toy level as I recall. Been years, but I think it was ACR brand that kicked butt on everything else then Garmin swooped in and just swept the floor- second to none and still is with their InReach line of products.

If I recall, back then the ACR didn't have message capabilities. It has a help I've fallen and can't get up button that would transmit your SOS and location. Spot was the first with messaging capabilities. You could pre-program 4 messages including the SOS button via your online account. Then Garmin came out with the inReach that would send text messages that you can compose either with the built in keyboard or use your smartphone via Bt. The ACR didn't require a subscription, the SPOT and Garmin do.

Garmin also delivers a hot latte and a croissant.

As I understand it, with things like, they're purposely designed so as you should not have to worry about the cost. Simply, it shouldn't be a factor in your decision to push the button, or wave 'em down.

How that's managed, I don't know, but its less useful if the choice comes down to dying or ruining your life.

Also, not sure how well the new iPhone satellite services work.
