Godspeed. Traffic/Motor officer, details; https://www.kcra.com/article/vacaville-officer-killed-crash-matthew-bowen/61574366

It is with profound sadness that the City of Vacaville Police Department confirms the tragic passing of Officer Matthew Bowen, who was killed this morning in the line of duty.
Officer Bowen was initiating a traffic stop and was struck by a vehicle. The driver was taken into custody. Officer Bowen was transported to Kaiser Hospital and despite the best efforts of emergency responders, he succumbed to his injuries.
Officer Bowen started with the City of Vacaville on June 13, 2023. Prior to, he served as a Police Officer with the City of Concord Police Department. He has served with the highest level of dedication and honor, and his loss is deeply felt by the Department, the City and the community. He is survived by his wife, two sons, parents and brother.
It is with much gratitude that we thank our neighboring agencies who have poured out a tremendous amount of support during this time. We request that the public respect the family’s privacy as they are faced with this heartbreaking loss.

My condolences to his family, loved ones, and colleagues.

The woman who hit the officer was high on drugs - at 10:30 in the morning? What a useless piece of crap.

RIP officer.
Thank you for your service.

Prayers for Officer Bowen, his family and his friends. Rest In Peace.

8 bells end of watch.
Condolances to the officer, his family, his brothers and sisters on the force, and the city of Vacaville.

RIP, long may you run.

A very sad story, for sure. I feel awful for his family and friends.

.....but you don't know anything about addiction, do you?

Addiction isn't an excuse for DUI or manslaughter/murder.

I've been on vacation. When I heard of this, I didn't realize he was a motor officer.

I was responding to the "piece of crap" reference.
There are plenty of good people on this forum alone that are one bad day away from being "pieces of crap" themselves.

Please do not believe I endorse DUI.
I absolutely do not....but it's frequently a symptom of bigger things.
I have worked for several facilities that serve first responders with addiction issues.
Don't get me started on what I've seen some of you guys get away with, but that's not the point.
Actually, it is.
Addiction does not always equal "piece of crap" status.
I'm continually discouraged by how many you guys can't see that.

And I'll save you the time of having to say "you'll think differently when it effects you"
That would be the wrong thing to say right now. I lost a friend and a peer only a few weeks ago to these exact circumstances.
Jessica was killed on her way home to Rohnert Park from her job at a treatment center. The driver was DUI. It's 2 blocks from my house and I have to drive by it twice a day on my way to my job doing the same thing.
I'll tell you for her....Jessica would resist you calling anyone "a piece of crap" without knowing a fuck of a lot more.
