just bought an old Iron Bed Frame. Still sore from lifting this heavy piece in my apartment:laughing

the previous owner painted it in some ugly spray can gold home depot color. here comes the messed up part. he had it in original condition forever, but figured when he wants to sell it it has to look "new" WTH:rofl

anyhow, what would you do? leave the paint on, media blast it (sand, plastic, etc.) or what else.

please advice.

patina is ruined :cry

I would media blast it if you had the option

is it spray paint or enamel paint?

i was thinking media blast it and then either powder coat clear or give it a subtle color pattern??

what do you think

Try some "Goof Off" or Graffiti remover first. You may be surprised...

Yes this.

Paint thinner, rubbing alcohol, acetone etc. You aren't going to make it worse, and may end up liking the shabby chic half-removed look. Odds are the paint underneath is pretty tenacious and the spray bomber did no prep to help the gold stick

Never wash it with soap because it ruins the seasoning and your sex will be bad.

Carries an ax you are a funny person!

Try different solvents paint thinner etc I think you might like it, finish with a low gloss clear to seal it or just a good wax job to keep the squeaks out!
