Going to start dirt biking...I just bought my son his first dirt bike (mine will have to wait until after christmas) and I'm not sure where to take him riding. We're not looking to get into racing, just some recreational dirt riding.

Any recommendations on where to go?

SAND HILL! (Brentwood)
If you are a beginner, and want to get some mad-skllzz-yoh! first, come to the "Oval" every Friday night! I went there two weeks ago and had so much fun I still can't believe I lived my whole life without it!
It's a blast!

And there is always Carnegie and Hollister. But for something that doesn't take a whole day, Sand Hill is perfect!

Carnegie is my favorite although it might not be the best place to learn , Hollister and Metcrap are much more beginner friendly .

Since this thread is over 2 years old, I think he may have found a place by now. :)

Metcrap?!?! Clearly you havent done all the singletrack there. Metcalf is Awesome!

Not to mention Metcalf has a better MX track than flat Carnegie and Hollister (day use MX track)

Metcalf has a ton of rocks, Hollister has like 7 random boulders.

Metcalf is hosting a hare scramble in Oct!

Any place to ride up near Santa Rosa?? Track or OHV?

Going up there for a few days and want to bring the bike!

Thanks!

Riding area for Jr.

I been trying to teach my daughter to ride also. We go to Carneige. Its has a flat road thats goes from fence line boundry to fence line boundry. On the south end of the property there's 2 small bike areas. The last part of the north end of the road is about a mile long and hardly anybody rides on it. There is a fee of $5.00 for your truck and bikes, combined. This is also a California S.V.R.A. riding area, just like Hollister. You can also buy a season pass for $50.00. This pass is valid at all State S.V.R.A. riding areas. Good Lucky & Have a Blast.

if your brave you could try the foster city jumps :teeth

yuuuup the seashell jumps, i go there everyday just to fuck around maybe get a little air, its the best spot for me to ride since its only 30 seconds from my house :twofinger and actually its not all shell, there is spots with sand and spots with mud/dirt and its also fun to smash through all the trails, and its nice that its so secluded that no one even knows im out there until i come on out!

Where is this place.
I need to find a place i can go and practice without going to far from SF.
