CSC motorcycles? RZ3

The bike looks nice but that company is known for selling junk scooters made with inferior parts.

Probably just a matter of time before the Chinese offerings become competitive on some level. Think about how Hyundias were in the late 80's/90's. Complete junk. Now, substantially less so. I still am not spending my money on a Korean car, but they are miles better than they used to be. I suspect the same will be true for the Chinese gear. Not quite ready for prime time, but who knows what it will look like in 10-15 years.

People over at ADVRider have put some relatively decent miles on them, and claim they're solid. The engine is a ripoff of one of Honda's most reliable designs of all time, so YMMV. They're heavy and underpowered for what they are.

(Edit: Well, technically the prior older Zongshen engines were ripoffs of Honda's old tech. Apparently the one in the RX3 etc is of an in house design by the same company. Anyway, still heavy and underpowered.)

For less money, you could build a killer DR350 that would be better performing with a vastly superior suspension, less weight, and be just as reliable.

Make your choice, and pays your monies.

For $3500 you could get a hell of a lot nicer used Japanese motorcycle.
Thats a piece of pure shite.

FZ-07 ripoff? Lol

Not sure what the deal is with CSC; based in SoCal with the bikes themselves from China. Inexpensive/cheap.

Make sure it has a functional headlight.

Went riding with a friend who was on his CSC RX3, and at night his low beam looked like a parking light --no way was it a working DOT headlight--and his high beam could probably pass for a low beam.

Other than that, what he had seemed to be a good deal.

Hi. Joe Berk here. I write the blog for CSC Motorcycles, and I wrote the press release that prompted this thread. I just discovered the thread this morning; I've been on an 8800-km ride across China on an RX3 for the last several weeks.

We appreciate all of your comments. If I can answer any of your questions, please let me know.

If you're gonna ride that thing across China you better get familiar with BARF's Roadside Angel crew.

i'll need a lot of gas money to pick you up from there...

Thanks for posting, Joe. Did you also go on the tour in the states that showed in Cycle World, Motorcyclist, MCN, or another one of those mags? I remember being impressed with how they performed, all things considered. I don't expect the US to be the ultimate target market, correct?

Why? That's where the dealers are, right?

A few more hundred and you can build one of those Saprilias like Robert has.

Ugh. Please don't.

You're a paid consultant/employee of CSC. If you're searching for your own press releases, that indicates to me that you're actively looking to push your product. You guys aren't a sponsor of this forum. Non-sponsor marketing is discussed in the terms of service, and generally frowned upon.

There are plenty of forums where you guys peddle your stuff - please don't do it here.

Joe, what BP means to say is that there is a significant population of Butt Plugs on teh Barf. They are racist pigs and they will say all manner of nasty rude, and unkind comments. Think of them as the local bullies. Unfortunately teh Barf is full of this sort of uncouth mouth wagger. It's very sad. The best thing to do is ignore them--although it can be fun to poke them with a sharp stick. :teeth

As for your blog. Very nicely done! I especially appreciated the many photos you took of bikes that you saw in China. From the Mama Charis to the three wheel enclosed bikes they were really something to see. You must have has a grand adventure. :thumbup

You should probably pop in the url to CSC's website and your blog, but since I'm already here I'll do it for you. ;)

Kestrel you do realize that Joe didn't start this thread, right? It was actually started by SF--someone who's been on teh Barf a significant number of years, and happens to be curious about a new bike that was just announced on the Motor Cyclist website (not CSC's website). Yes Joe is associated with CSC he states that in his first paragraph, and then he offers to answer questions people may have--I didn't see any inappropriate behavior. Just an offer to answer questions.

Now if a person associated with Kawasaki, Honda, Suzuki, or any other bike producer of a bike which you happen to own posted an offer to answer questions would he be treated with such "kind" words? Not very likely. So what's with all the grief? :party

Says the motors are made by zongshen, who make some good pitbike engines, dunno about the watercooled stuff though. The chassis is probably shite, but maybe you can hit eBay for some nissin/showa/kyb stuff that would fit and make it decent. The standard Chinese gear rules probably apply, strip it and grease/loctite/torque everything, then it might not rattle itself to death.

Anyway, if any of you have any questions, ask away. If I've broken any rules or offended anybody, my guess is you're young. You'll get over it.

I organized and led the US tour to which you refer. I also wrote a book about it.

The US is one of the major markets for the RX3. The bike is available in nearly every country now. Colombia is one of the largest markets. I rode on the RX3 Colombia tour in December.

But I like Japanese bikes yet I'm not even Japanese.
Anyhow shame on you for that accusation. I'll have you know I happen to have a Chinese Friend (well an acquaintance):x
