2011 Spring Rally -- BARF does Quincy!

IN

can I share a room Friday with anyone? I is shacking up with Suzeh Saturday night :teeth

I'm invested now... time to pack the beers!! :party

In all seriousness, I should unsubscribe this thread...

Memories of Hawthorne and the rally in Paso Robles is making my jonesing for riding painful.

I look at the maps, imagining my taking the curves mentally, accellerating, braking, leaning, shifting body mass.... Ye GODS I miss you folks and riding....

That's what I was gonna say - not the HT part though. Some things are better left to be found out in person, ya know! ;)

Look forward to being part of the group. :)

IN & Hope-ing for fair weather

This is sounding reeaally gooodd! :ride But I'm a little cold-blooded, hoping for seasonable spring weather...and clear-ish roads. Do I bring the road bike or dual-sport? Room reserved, PM sent.

Oh...dear.

Gonna' book my own room tomorrow. Further away from you nutcases the better. :twofinger

You're just bitter because VS does not make ruffled panties in your size. :p

Hmm...I'm interested but haven't done a rally ride before - what's the format like?

Looks like transit day Friday SFBay to Quincy, via perhaps different routes and small groups...or are we on our own to get there?

I assume Sat is filled with local rides/loops, returning to Quincy at days end. And Sunday a return to SFBay...perhaps a different route?

All blended together with good folks and good eats/drinks:):party

I haven't been to Quincy in years but recall that area being great riding/driving roads, esp Feather River as others have already noted.

Below you can find info from the first post that addresses some of your questions.

(Please note that this is not an organized or guided group-riding event. There are no officially designated leads or sweeps. This is a rally with pre-determined routes, common points-of-interest and destination for the participants. The official daily starting point and time are provided to allow the participants the greatest opportunity to enjoy the company of other BARFers and BARFettes along the way for the duration of the rally. Participants are free to band into groups of their own choosing, and at their own risk.)

3. On or around May 1, 2011, you will receive a Rider’s Packet from me that contains the details of the itinerary, meeting time/location, routes, and more.

What’s a Rally?

Registered participants will receive a rally packet from Tom via e-mail that will contain proposed routes. You can choose to take one of those routes, or not. You can choose to ride with a group going on that proposed route, or not. You'll find that as we get closer to the date that there will be lots of discussion from participants regarding their plans. When you get to the start on Friday morning you can continue that discussion and make your mind up then.

During the day and the evening of the first day ask other riders what their plans are for Saturday. See whose plans match your interests and make arrangements to ride with them, or ride alone. I've done it both ways; ridden alone or with one other rider on Saturday, or ridden with a big group.

Plans on Sundays tend to be influenced by how tired folks are from Saturday, and how keen they are to get home. Some folks will go the most direct way possible, and others will the use the opportunity to continue to explore.
