my hand built xj500t bellytank triple kawi

XJ 500T

Wow, impressive undertaking! I've got a lot of custom builds under my belt too...But wow! Greg & Doug @ SC know me well. I've been kind an outsider, just scouing for local info etc.. I'm going to have to try photoshoping some of my bikes on here. Los Gatos you say.. I'm in Los Altos.

shit guys sorry i was working all day just got in .gees wear do i start.cool build super easy. needed a project for sumer and I have wanted to build a bike for my self for a while so ........I thought about it like i do most my projects . first I look at what is already built than what needs to be changed for it to sute me than I draw from my exrerance with bikes in general. i shave down all the general design shit that is built in a factory bike to be good in many areas for many reasons like gearing for instance I wont be going 160 on the roads i will be riding so get that down to somthing around 120 and i will gain alot in the range that i will be riding u see what i mean. get that narowed down and focus on what it needs to do and nothing more .you may notice their is nothing on it that dosent have to be to go fast on tight twisty moutian rds . i like things i build to be diferent and well have a jaybuilt look to them .thanks for your intrest .somthin elce alot of the stuff i do i will build as if it is the first one so i am not wrongly influinced and that helps me .

THE MOTOR IS A 500 cc KAWASAKI TRIPLE .THE FRONT AND REAR ARE ZX9 AND THE REST IS JAYBUILT .THE FRAME IS 1.250 MOLY THIN WALL AND WITH THE ALUM MOTOR /SWINGARM CONECTOR ATTACHED IT WEIGHTS 22 POUNDS. THE BIKE AS IT SITS IS 310POUNDS . ONE THING THAT WAS IMPORTANT WAS THAT IT HAS A VARY LOW PART COUNT .I BUILT A MOTOR STAND THAT HOLDS THE ENGINE WITH 1 BOLT AND SLIDES UNDER THE BIKE YOU REMOVE THE 2 BOLTS FROM TANK ,THE FUEL LINE ,THE CHAIN, 4 MOTOR BOLTS, THE EXAUST BOLTS ,SLIDE THROTLE AND CLUTCH OFF UNPLUG HARNESS AND PULL BIKE AWAY IT TAKES ABOUT 30 MIN TO SWAP THE ENGINE FROM A 500 TO A750 OR WHATEVER. THE MOTOR STAND ALSO CAN HOLD ALL THE IGN COMPONENTS SO YOU CAN RUN THE ENGINE ON THE STAND . YOU CAN DO A COMPLEET REBUILD ON THE STAND AS WELL.THE BIKE CAN BE COMPLEETLY APART IN 1 HR AND THEIR IS MABY 20 BOLTS TOTAL .I USE A GOKART FUEL PUMP that WORKS OFF IMPULCE FROM CRANK CASE. I HAVE A FUEL SPONGE IN TANK SO IT DOSENT SLOSH .THE THING IS ABOUT AS EASY TO RIDE FAST AS YOU CAN IMAGIN. YOU FEAL TOTALY IN CONTROL .IT JUST DOES WHAT YOU WANT IT TOO .

i installed foam in the tank and well all i can say is you stunters need to try this it makes a big diferance esp on top with lots of fuel.the thing runs real cool as far as i can tell but all my test rides have ben worthless beacous i cant consintrate on shit i am done with any thing i intend to do the seconed the wheel comes down to blacktop i shit u not it is a 2 wheel sprint car funist fucking thing i hav ever done is ride this bike .sky dive close 135 in top fuel 426 hemi boat 1/4 mi to fuckin scary to compair. first solo in a 180hp low wing grumin air plane not even driving a bulldozer throught a house not even blowing off a pipe bomb 6in dia 2 ft long making a hole u could lose a vw bug in not a chance putin poisn oak on the toylet paper in high school about as big a smile but still no .sendin a skunk tied with a 4 ft lead to the tail of a dog into a church maby

1 for s/head slide top clamp off slide both bars off 3 bolts for fuel tank slide engine stand under and install 1 bolt loosen botem fork clamp and slide down
and remove front all panels just pop off 6 ex nuts and 6 springs remove ex remove 2 bolts at the head and 2 at botem unplug elect con and chain motor can be slid out from under bike remove coil plate and install on stand and hook the ex motor can be run on stand 3 bolt hold seat and fender on and wala! o and 3 nuts and rear is off takes about 40 mn going slow a fist full of wrenches and your off to diner.

awesome :laughing :laughing

I like the simplicity and streamlining the bike to be as user friendly as possible. do you have a headlamp you gonna run on that bike (ie. supermoto light, etc..) just curious what might fit on there.
