A shiny new baby has popped out of the Revzilla - Cyclegear merger. I'm curious to know who the product designers are and if they are the same team responsible for the Bilt and Sedici lines of gear.

We are a group of riders brought together by our passion for motorcycles, galvanized by the belief that authenticity is achieved only when form follows function. We are inspired by challenges. We are driven by feedback.

The idea that sparked REAX emerged from a decade of riding and product testing at RevZilla. To cultivate that bolt of inspiration, a new product development team formed under COMOTO (the parent company of RevZilla and Cycle Gear). The result was motorcycle gear that does exactly what it’s designed to do without trying to be anything it’s not. Just the right blend of function, protection and a clean, understated look was where we arrived. Focused and without fluff, the REAX brand was born.

After a collective lifetime on two wheels coupled with continual conversations with other riders, we knew what we were looking for in our own gear. So we created it. We developed these products in-house from start to finish—because that’s the only way we’d be proud to put our name on it.

Odd name from a marketing perspective, it either reads as reeks moto, or wrecks moto to me. Both have negative connotations that most people would probably avoid when shopping for motorcycle gear.

Yeah, really weird name. I am surprised they didn't try to link the name to Revzilla some how since Revzilla has a really strong brand.

Zilla-wear or something....

Different product development team.

It reads "REE-AXE".

Warranty is two years on materials and workmanship.

I encourage you all to stop by your local store and put your hands on it. Everything is in stock right now outside of the pants. We're REALLY excited about this new brand as it was built by riders for riders. :thumbup

Ridge line of gear looks to be taking a shot at Klim & the ADV market, but there's a curious lack of description when it comes to the fabric. Not that Klim is even much to write home about these days.

Any more details on the fabric used, CG?

Shell is 96% nylon, 4% spandex.

I saw this gear at Cycle Gear Sac last week. Looked nice, no idea about the quality (I'm no gear expert). Wasn't really what I'm looking for, I ended up buying a Olympia Explorer high vis jacket on clearance from Revzilla and putting a Alpinestars knox back protector in it. Got it yesterday and went for a ride, really like it.

Revzillas online chat customer service people were great!!

I wish Cyclegear had more of the online stuff available to try on. Store is 50% in house brands. No Olympia(other than one suite in the clearance area) or Klim to try on.

We're carrying more third-party brands than ever. Even prior to pre-BiLT/Sedici days. It's difficult to carry a lot of the niche brands due to the overhead we have for brick and mortar vs. website, but we are constantly adding new products to our stores and clearing out the non-movers. Maybe one day Klim and Olympia will be a norm in-store... :ride

I'm curious about REAX. Is it more on the BiLT or Sidici side of price and quality?

I encountered a number of issues with BiLT that gave me pause advocate it to a fellow rider (with few exceptions). I'm mostly in the camp that safety gear is the one part of riding we shouldn't skimp on so maybe I'm biased against very entry-level gear. On the other had, from what I've seen/heard/experienced, Sidici is a very decent brand that offers a very good value in terms of quality per dollar spent. I HOPE REAX is closer, if not a little better than, Sidici. It'd be a powerhouse product for sure, if that's the case!

Good to see a new brand coming to market shake things up! Keep it up, CG/RZ!

Is there any REAX women's gear? I checked the site, but might be missing something...

It's brand new for us, but the goal was to have this brand compete with the big boys. It's exceeded our expecations.

Not just yet. We wanted to get this initial rollout and see where we're at. There is definitely some interest, but we want to do it right too.

I respect that. The fitment for women's gear is tricky to be sure. Looking forward to watching how the brand progresses.

Not just that, but given the connection to Revzilla, I am disappointed to not seen Tall or Husky in their size range.

Yes, I gathered that much from your website :laughing

My question was speaking more along the lines of abrasion resistance. DuPont's Cordura line of fabrics, for example. Some of those fabrics have nylon and other components, but I think it's reasonable to say that all nylon is not 'created' equal. Low quality poorly weaved nylon in poorly constructed jackets versus an Aerostich Roadcrafter, for example.

In that respect, what can you all tell me about the fabric utilized in the Reax Ridge line? Is this thing made to slide down the road? Or is this more of a lighter weight waterproof shell with armor thrown in for grins?
