CHP Motorcycle Safety

You coming to the meeting??

kind of offtopic because its not related to the meeting, but kind of on topic cuz its regarding lane splitting.

Im just not clear on one point, perhaps someone could clarify: it says lane splitting is allowed on marked and unmarked roads, but mentions specifically "between rows of cars".

What if its one lane (so you wont be between any rows of cars, there's just the one row in front of you) with ample room (meaning you're still going to be in the lane, not on any shoulders which is obviously illegal) ?

See it is limited to the first 50 who call in. Waiting to here on an appointment date to be sure it is not the same date. I will call in after I am sure I can make the meeting.

If it is unmarked you can pass on the left and it would not considered lanesplitting, but it would be legal. HWY 4 at the top is a good example.

Only if you want to.. there is a public discussion period and often there are topics where the public is asked for comment.

Overall I would rate the meetings between boring and interesting, but boring...:laughing

It is good for the CHP to see the publics interest in the program. A lot of that has happened because of the City Bike Ride. 8 or 9 years ago there were less than 10 people from the public that would attend. The last few between 20 and 30.

I'll do my best to be there.
Perhaps shoot me a PM if there is any coordinated effort I should be aware of.

I am not sure if City Bike or anyone else is organizing a ride. Surj is still on the mend so not sure if he will attend. Hope he does.

I drive so I can still communicate with my office and clients.

Keep an eye out for a ride. They specifically moved the time of the meeting to make them more rider friendly and they increased the length a bit to handle the public portion too.

Penciled onto my calender. I'll be leaving from Novato.

I'll be there. Still sorting out details, like crutches or wheelchair, but my plan is to be there. CityBike will promote the the meeting, but no ride this time.
