Three solid members have received a week off so far this month.

Each now have no warnings left.

Explanation here

Please don’t. It is a PIA for me and I don’t like having people I consider friends suspended.

You can check where you stand in the link.

Thank you for NOT posting political shit outside the PolSink.

Only 1? I thought it would be more. :laughing

I have a couple of comments
1. I was surprised to find myself on the list. I agree wholeheartedly to keep politics off the general forum. It becomes a shit show.
2. I never received a warning or explanation about what I did wrong
Anyway, I am totally with you Budman.

It's also very frustrating trying to tread a line created by BARF. When the topic has been politicized by society, the commentary will trend political. That's not wrong, and it shouldn't be punished. Instead, moving threads into the PolSink when it's clear they are political- Ted Cruz holding forth in the media about "Cuties" making it inarguably politicized- would be the more appropriate response, IMO. Mentioning his doing so regarding the topic of the thread is pertinent to the thread and informative to readers, not an effort to communicate or convince others of a specific political stance (at least any more so than the debate already was, sans Cruz mention.)

That topic on its own- censorship of media harmful to youth- is already a political topic, so the original thread should've been in the PS IMO.

Edit:

When I see a review of a film that says "If you have to register as a you know what (sex offender), maybe this film isn't for you", it makes me ask "maybe this film shouldn't have been made".

From what I hear, there's preteen girls twerking, and taking off their pants and panties to take pictures of themselves. Sounds like pedophile soft core porn to me.

This thread was posted the same day Cruz submitted his letter to the DOJ and held a press release about it. I assert that this entire thread should've been in the PS from the beginning.

Sen. Cruz Calls for Criminal Investigation Into Netflix’s ‘Cuties’
URGES DOJ TO INVESTIGATE IF EXECUTIVES, FILMMAKERS VIOLATED FEDERAL LAWS AGAINST PRODUCTION AND DISTRIBUTION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
September 11, 2020 | 202-228-7561
HOUSTON, Texas - Following Netflix's disturbing promotion and defense of its new pornographic film sexualizing young children, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) sent a letter calling on the Department of Justice to investigate whether Netflix, its executives, or the makers of the film "Cuties" violated any federal laws against the production and distribution of child pornography.

In the letter to Attorney General Bill Barr, Sen. Cruz wrote:

"The film routinely fetishizes and sexualizes these pre-adolescent girls as they perform dances simulating sexual conduct in revealing clothing, including at least one scene with partial child nudity. These scenes in and of themselves are harmful. And it is likely that the filming of this movie created even more explicit and abusive scenes, and that pedophiles across the world in the future will manipulate and imitate this film in abusive ways.

Bud and the mods already do that on a regular basis. The ask is that we do a bit of self-policing in addition to waiting on them to move things that get political and stay there.

Threads meander and wander off topic all the time - sometimes they come back to the original topic, sometimes they don't. Sometimes just a couple political snipes are dropped in, and sometimes the sniping derails the entire thread. When the former happens, you get bapped. When the latter happens, the thread gets moved.

Speaking for myself, the Ptrap thread is the best on BARF. I just wish it was open to comments.

I'm with it- and I am actively working to keep political content in the PS, as others are, and I've seen other threads moved. I'm pointing out that in this case, there's no possibility of this thread NOT being political in nature- simply mentioning the name of a politician didn't magically turn it into a political conversation- and so it belonged there to begin with.

I dunno, I don't consider the topic apolitical, because the only manner of addressing it would be via legislation or other government action. Not saying the words "...and it should be illegal!" doesn't mean the speaker's not conveying that meaning.

You have to be more nebulous with your comments in the KS. :laughing

Then I think reporting it as political would be the right call.

Honestly I only glanced at it. The thread title "cuties". I thought why is a cartoon show of interest?? That was sort of my take and it held no interest to look beyond the first post.

I had no clue what it was about and left to do others things. It was not until someone reported a post as a PTRAP worthy post that it came back on the radar for me. Not sure if other Mod's looked at it or not?

There is a lot of content to moderate here and even though things are basically better and there is less work in terms of moderatiing users than in the past we also have less active Mods than in the past also.

So in that regard reporting items that need attention is useful.

I am happy to see that the message on getting things clean up in the PolSink as far as interactions being respectful has taken so well. It is a lot easier to actually discuss things. My activity there has increased by at least 100% because I don't just move along because of people attacking each other.
That is appreciated.

@Ernie... I hear you but if we opened it up it would make for a PITA to address everything. I already get the task of doing most of the posting and updating the list of offenses. Overall it it a bit of work, but it has cut down on so much politics in other areas of barf it is worth it.

@freddo... Awesome :laughing
