Today was a 'twofer'. Mom's 2nd car has been at the Temecula Lexus dealership for a week or so getting that sorted. And that was just about 5 miles away from the clinic where she had her surgery and they just happened to be done with the work today so we picked up the car.
I had a lot of fun talking with the service manager that's been handling the car. His name is Adam. I told him, "I hope this is not weird but I feel like I already know you because almost every time you were on the phone with my mom, I was listening." He says, "ah, so you were the person in the background." DON'T MAKE IT WEIRD.
We talked a lot about Supras after I told him I've had 2 Supras, 2 MR-2s, and a Corolla. Showed him some pics of my Supras. Some kid who I'm assuming was someone's assistant overheard the conversation and was interested. Understood everything we were talking about. I was surprised and high fived him. I don't expect kids these days to understand 90s Japanese sports cars to that level.
I was kinda surprised they had an LFA in the show room. It's a 15 year old car but it's a fucking awesome car that put a lot of exotic cars to shame in performance. I told Adam I think the LFA is the best thing Toyota has done in the past 20 years. He agreed.
Adam said he's not a fan of the new Supra because it was a Toyota/BMW project. I was like... you fucking purist, you sound like some of my other Supra friends.

As a former Supra owner, I like the new Supra. I test drove one awhile ago. It checked all the boxes for me.
All in all, it was great to talk shop with someone that's been just as balls deep in Japanese sports cars as I am.
Past two days have been a lot of fun talking with strangers. What did Tyler Durden call them in Fight Club when he was on the plane all the time? Single serving friends. That's what I've been doing.
