Electric start XR 650 L versus XR 650 R for a short legged guy

I actually gave one away, it got returned, then it became a vin sonar for a dirtbag challenger. Freaking shame.

Wait...what?? What Italian Husky did you give away? And why didn't I take it to add to the 5 Italian Huskys already in my garage?

"I'll take Random Italian Motorcycle Parent Companies for twenty, Bob."
Now there's a game show I'd watch. :laughing

I drove to Chico to go see it. Man, it was a beautiful bike. I dig the 17-inch wheels on it, for sure. It had a lot of the things I wanted on a bike: risers, Corbin seat, steel brake lines, nice 17-inch wheels (with a 19-inch set as well), good tires still having plenty of service life on them. If I had a touch more of a crush, I'd have bought it.

HOWEVER

When I squeezed the front brake lever, it nearly touched the bar. When I blipped the throtte, the bike sputtered and almost stalled many times, the paint on the engine case was more worn than the pictures showed, the vapor tach didn't work, and the speedo hardware was missing.

So while it wasn't the right bike, sometimes you have to acknowledge the chase can be fun. Onward!

Not for me. Thank you though. I decided to pursue the L.
Not sure what your budget is or where you are located, but a friend has a relatively low mileage XR650L, unmolested. Middle aged, adult, one owner bought new 2017 or 18 I think. I did a light de smog and jetting of it to give it a bit more snap for him when first purchased it, thats it. Was chatting with him at the club last week, now that his kids have all left the house, the dirt and dual sports are being sold. It's in Lake County, been sitting for a couple of years, and not listed. If interested, send me a PM. I can arrange something with him after the Holidays.

Had the 650R and 650L in Supermoto trim Worked with a Supermoto company for a bit
Just my opinion, get the L, keep the stock wheels and put good road going tires on them Slide the forks about 10 to 12 mm up and good to go
The frame on the L flexes too much for my taste in mid corners with the extra grip and lost too much clearance My time, there was limited things that can improve on the L in supermoto trim

Dedicated to riding. :cool
