On Friday, Caltrans announced that it would start snow removal operations on 108 (Sonora) on 3/23, which is *checks notes* today.

Per Caltrans, operations on 4 (Ebbetts) are also starting today.

As for Monitor, it’s been open for 2+ weeks.

I rode Monitor Pass yesterday coming back from Death Valley. Aside from a couple of slow cars and an even slower Harley rider who got passed by a car it was a fun and rather spirited ride

Monitor open again, will it stay open this time?

Caltrans will RE-OPEN SR-89/#MonitorPass from the temporary closure TODAY (4/14/26) as of 12PM at the SR-4/89 Junction.

State Route 120 W from Lee Vining to the East Yosemite Park Gate is OPEN.

Yosemite is NOT

open from its eastern entrance at this time. Please check with Yosemite National Park for updates on when their east park entrance will reopen.

I rode to Tahoe via Hwy 88 on Friday and it was lovely - cool, clear, empty.

I started to ride back on Sunday, but turned back due to it snowing like a mofo.

I am debating whether to go east to Muir Woods / Stinson Beach (only 1.5 hours) or west to Sonora pass (4 hours). I am leaning towards the coast this part of the year, will probably head west in a couple of months
