Me too. Or at least most of them. I am looking forward to getting away and being immersed in riding!
 
I was going to recommend this place to stay, but unfortunately they are closed for renovations. Me and two of my friends stayed there and we walked down to the river behind the hotel and watched the stars, swam in the river and drank some nice beer.

I will keep that in mind for next year. Hoopa would have been a more convenient stop than Trinidad.

I needed to adjust my planned layovers a bit to work with what rooms and AirBnb's were available. It all worked out fine, but that can be a tricky part of planning.

It is a lot of planning! I like having a destination each day. I suppose back when this movie was made you could just wing it! But I have learned from experience that winging it these days leads to some less than desirable outcomes!

Thanks, Budman! I am glad to see you are easing back into riding.

I just got word the AirBnB I booked in El Granada doesn't have the extra day I need available on my last day in town. I was kind of thinking about leaving that day and taking Mountain View Road from Storneta to Ukiah and staying there, with Orr Springs/Comptche-Ukiah Road back to the coast, staying in Little River the next night. That would make the Ukiah to Little Rive day pretty mellow, and give me more time around Mendocino to fart around. Last year I came into Little River after dark, and just had some gas station food to hold me over.
 
Day 9 will be an easy day from El Granada to Bolinas, that will give me plenty of time to have a leisurely morning, and a relaxing afternoon. From Bolinas on the 30th I will head up one, go east on Skaggs Point Road to Cloverdale, up Hwy 128 to Boonville, and back out tow Hwy 1 on Mountain View Road, before heading up Hwy 1 to Little River. That gets back back on Skaggs Point for the first time in several years, and on Mountain View Road for the first time. The Ukiah route will have to wait for another trip!

The tail bag is mostly just my shoes, jeans and jacket for around town. If I ditched that I would have quite a bit less. But once I am off and riding I don't notice any of it, and then I can be more comfortable during the trip. I hate living in leathers all the time!

Realistically it is just a soft version of hard cases and a top case.

Driving the truck and trailer with the bike made it easier since on my rides I only had a small bag with my tools. If I were to stay in one place for an extended period I could ship a bag of gear down, then ship it back whaen I rode home. But that would be a hassle logistically. Believe me, it is stressful trying to deal with all of this crap! But at least I am prepared.
 
Day 1:

Made it to Weaverville by 5, after a 380-mile day. Not bad for the first ride of the year! Here are a couple of pictures from Scott River Road.

Day 2:

The morning in Weaverville was very peaceful, and the "Moon House" restaurant served up some great food that was all organic and stuff.

Then off for some good times on Highway 3, and out 36.

Mattole Road is a gem, and I rode an out-and-back up the gravel switchbacks on Wilder Ridge. I think I will ride the entire thing from south to north on my way back home.

Riding down to Shelter Cove wasn't too shabby either. A little froggy, with an oceanside room!

Hey if you do ride through Hoopa, observe the speed limit on Hoopa land. ;)
 
Yes. The tribal police are strict with their enforcement of speed laws.
 
if I know, I’m good. Usually I am only going the speed limit if I am lost or tired.
