I have a '94 toy very similar to yours but I think yours is a 92-93 year model. Also with the 22RE motor which is a 2.4 L The 22RE is only the model doesn't indicate litres.
rixx said:I have a '90 toyota, looks just like your truck. 235,000 miles on the engine, still haulin ass.
If you're gona tow like that, i recommend you get a pair of stiffer rear springs. I upgraded to 15" rims with a 205 tire instead of the stock 195.
I always like to see another red yota![]()
Going up in the tire size is a great improvement all around. I too went to the 205 LT tire.
For the rear suspension though, I added airbags since this truck spends more miles unloaded and I wanted to keep a comfy ride.
stangmx13 said:dont be surprised when ure rear tires blow out from all that extra weight... atleast jack em up to max pressure n hope.
Tires remarkably hold alot of weight. Id bet the rear axle would go before the tires ever blew. Unless (as you indicated) the tires are not properly inflated) Under inflated and the tire will pop a bead.
IMO Having used both the Pre-95 toyota hi-lux pickups and the 95+ Tacomas for construction (heavy payloads- read: overloading) and for towing. The new ones have NOTHING on the older generation trucks. The new ones have more power but its not as usable since the truck is not as rigid as the older models. This is not accounting for the latest Taco that are out. I haven't used that one yet.
I will never sell my '94 5spd!

and its actually a 1990
amathews98 said:Great shape for a 1990! Do you have A/C? My truck is the base of the base models, I've been thinking of adding the A/C unit, as I've been told its a straight forward easy install. I just want to know if it takes away alot of engine power.
